Who here uses traffic exchanges, safelists, or list sites?

Hey guys,

As alternative ways to get traffic, I've been broadening my scope to some of the widely known sources of super cheap traffic. The kind that so many people say is 'useless.'

I'm just wondering how many warriors are using things like safelists, traffic exchanges, list sites, and those other traffic-getters on a daily basis?

And if you have some tips on how you're successful with them I would LOVE to hear those too

So how about it, anyone wildly successful with this stuff?

  • Not too many fans of these methods in the Warrior Forum, but I know a lot of people doing very well using traffic exchanges, safelists, and viral list builders.

You'll hear a lot of naysayers, but just remember there are people who are making a killing at these advertising sites.

Personally I use these almost exclusively and have built a list of well over 13k at last count.

    • Traffic exchanges and safelists I don't think are a great source of traffic to ages where you want conversions. However if it's alexa ranking you are after then I suppose traffic exchanges could help towards that
  • Safelists, traffic exchanges, and list builders are the perfect target audience for one type of product: they all want to get traffic to their website, essentially for free (though many will buy if they're faced with a OTO).

I think they're good ways to build your list (so long as you can entice them with just that), but you won't have much luck promoting paid products directly.
  • Many people make a classic mistake of using them to promore an affiliate offer directly, get no results, and automatically assume this is a crap traffic source.

If you have a free report, or even better, a membership site built around your free report on something of interest to your average safelist / traffic exchange member then you will get results.

Things like free reports on affiliate marketing, listbuilding, and traffic generation generally do well.

My top tip is to keep your page simple, tell people what you have and why they give you their email address to get it.

    • Thanks for the replies guys, I know traffic exchanges aren't real popular here, but there's got to be some more marketers who use them.

I'm going to do some testing on different exchanges to see if I can get some results with varying squeeze pages.

Does anyone have any suggestions on the ones I should start at? So far I'm with traffic swarm, my first ad will be displayed soon, we'll see how it goes.

How bout some more suggestions about other exchanges that are popular!

Would love a little guidance from those who have used em.

      Thanks!

  • You can certainly build your list with these strategies. Mike Filsaime acquired a "few" people on his list using safe lists.

You can help build your list using traffic exchanges if you are willing to spend your day clicking away on traffic exchanges. Make sure you are promoting something that would intrigue a new person, like free list building report/training or systems...

If you are going to surf, open up about 10 tabs of different sites to surf at once and then save the tabs for your next session using a firefox browser.

List Joe & List Dot Com have been a very steady way for me to add to my list for less than 2 minutes of effort a day to send out an e-mail.
  • I wonder if anyone's ever tried outsourcing this task?

You know... hiring a bunch of people to click on other people's links for you... you probably wouldn't have to pay very much...

    Just a thought.

    • Quickest way to get an account deleted in any traffic exchange is to do what you just suggested. They are very sophisticated these days and can spot that a mile away.

They work... if you use them correctly

I built a list of over 50K using them and they bring in an average of 30 to 50 people a day to my lists still.

Take far to long to put everything down in a forum post on the what to do and what not to do, especially as i have a home study course on how to use them

However the quick answer is dont try to sell them anything while they are surfing, but drop them an enticing squeeze page or splash page and get them on your list, they buy

Oh you can click for credits if you want, but to really dominate them you have to buy the traffic by purchasing the credit packages from the owner.

This tip will piss TE owners off, but i cant win them all never upgrade in TE's instead buy the credits. you get more bang for your buck.

In some TE's I can get a subscriber every 80 to 100 page views and with credits at around $10 per thousand page views (less if you buy in bulk) thats better than some PPC campaigns

If they have a draw back they cant be scaled like PPC campaigns, average views per URL is 100 to 150 a day
