Now You're Gonna Actually Need to PROVIDE For Your Subscribers...

Anyone else noticed a bunch of people mass-unsubscribing from lists?

I didn't even feel like messing with unsubscribes, I just got a whole damn new email address.

Apparently, Internet Marketing isn't as easy as just sending out promo after promo to your list three times a week.

If you want people to stay on your list, now you'll actually have to give them a reason to...

I signed up for someone else's list the other day, and while this guy will send me promotions eventually, the first few emails so far have actually told me interesting stories... stories meant to educate and inspire me. It's nice having a clean inbox with only 12 read emails, and if I get emails like THAT every so often, not bad.

Some of the emails (!) don't even have links in them.

So, the moral of the story... people are getting bored with the promo-after-promo game. If this sounds like YOUR autoresponder...

Exactly. There are real people on the other end, with their own lives, emotions, families, friends, pet peeves...

It's not all about the Next Big Thing... plus, it seems people don't realize that maybe promoting the Next Big Thing would have more impact if they didn't say "OMG this is so great limited time only go go go" every, single, week.

It has to be more of a friendly and day to day daily conversations with your subscribers, just like you do with your friends or colleagues. Get to know them well, find out what they do. This will not only increase your friends circle, but you might need good results with such relationships.

However, you cant just keep chatting or sending mails to your subscribers daily, lol !!!!

The people who send out promo after promo make me laugh as i either hit the spam button after it keeps happening or i just leave them un-opened and maybe even go to the trouble of deleting them.

I have 2 email list's with no upsells or links in them at all and are from a free signup anyway and another list which has around 30 emails and only 2 of them contain links to sell you something and another 2 giving you something else for free!

I hate recieiving promo emails and hate giving them out too.

No, wait. You want me to...actually treat people like, well, real people and not just open wallets?

That will never work -- that means I'd have to . . . gulp . . . act like a real person too!

That's not how those guys that make 69.3 gajillion dollars an hour do it! Man, where did you get this crazy idea?

OK, seriously...you're preaching to the choir with me, Emily, but I'm singing along with you.

    Hello,
I have been on a unsubscribe rampage myself,I have had many emails claiming that I should buy this new product when it turns out it has been out for quite some time.
    I just hate that.

This is very true. i think the era of value is just moving up, and marketers are perhaps starting to notice this moving trend..! when they actually provide REAL value, it makes me more likely to open future emails..!

Half of these internet gurus are still at the bottom of the learning curve. They preach about the power is in the list - in real business it's just called your client base. The real power in the list is keeping your clients long term.

The current model relies on nothing more than throw-away newbies. The guru with a brain will keep people on his list from newbie to advanced. Coming soon will be the revolutionary wave of "how to keep people on your list" products. Don't waste your money on them, just buy a dictionary and look up "common sense"
