Who would you recommend to host blog?

Hi,
Hostgator would be my choice. I host all my blogs and websites with them, they give you fantastic support, great customer service. They were recommended to me by other internet marketers.

I haven't ever used other services and I don't think I will

But my advice would be not to spend much of your time searching for a hosting provider, choose one of the most reliable ones and concentrate on building your blog.

Hostgator is definitely the best.

They let you host unlimited domains on 1 account so that way you dont waste money hosting each and every site separately. This is great for affiliate marketers who have multiple domain names,

I have 2 recommendations. Used them both, no complaints.

Bluehost and Sharkspace. The latter has a 50% off for life promo code, google for it.

  There are hundreds and even thousands of companies you could consider. The main thing is that you need to find out and ask you self to which market you will be targeting your blog. Also it is very important to check how web hosting company support the blog application like wordpress. Good luck.

I use hostgator myself. I have installed wordpress on bluehost for a customer and they are really east to use too. Godaddy on the other hand isn't really one I love to work with.

I would have to say hostgator. They have an excellent 24 hour support . Someone hacked and older version of WP I had with them and I had to send their security section a ticket, they fixed it for me and advised me just to upgrade to the latest version. Great service.

It's interesting to note that Hostgator is the odds on choice in the above comments. I use them too and am very happy with them. They are serious, and very responsive to problems as compared to others I have worked with.

I use bluehost and they have been OK. I kind of wish I would have went with hostgator. Too late to switch now....that's how they get you...cheap sign ups and everyone is too lazy to switch LOL

Another vote for hostgator, pick the package that allows you to add multiple domains.

You can install wordpress in seconds via fantastico within the cpanel, you don't even have to download the files and fanny about setting up databases.

Hostgator is great when you're starting off and to host low to medium traffic volume sites that don't use a lot of resources. If you are using Hostgator and expect major spikes in traffic, don't find this out the HARD WAY! It's nothing to worry about but actually it's a misnomer when they say unlimited. If you are hosting a lot of high traffic websites, you will end up having issues with Hostgator.

Godaddy is good for one thing; domain names. Never use Godaddy for hosting under any circumstances, NEVER! They have too many limitations to mention, in addition to the fact that you do not have full control over the hosting package as in cPanel.

Speaking of cPanel, if this is your first run at having a hosting account, stick with a provider such as Hostgator that uses cPanel. Virtually all of the other hosting account admin panels are not intuitive and have a long learning curve.

When a person does IM for a living - they cannot afford to take chances on sites being up 78% of the time, 90% of the time, or even 95% of the time. They need to know that their sites are up and running 99.9% of the time.

One the tests we perform on host's servers is called the "Throttle up" test. This is where we we send hits to a site that mimic traffic to ascertain that the site or sites are not returning 500 Internal Server Errors or other errors. This just proves or disproves if that server being tested can handle the load. While the test is running we are accessing the sites in question as if we were normal users.

When we have run such tests on Godaddy hosting shared accounts, we almost always see poor performance... through very slow loading sites, and occasional server crashes. A person who has low volume traffic or doesn't know how to decipher the STATS won't notice this poor performance.

Also, for some unknown reason their shared Web hosting apparently still uses a reverse proxy/HTTP accelerator which consequently mangles HTTP headers, making all but the simplest Web applications difficult or impossible to run properly. In those cases, the person has to contact Godaddy support and hope they reach a knowledgeable technician. Whereas with cPanel you can install/change just about anything with a few clicks.

Due to all of the problems our clients had with Godaddy dating back to 2006, as soon as a potential new client advises that they use Godaddy hosting, we advise them to switch hosts... or we WILL NOT take them on as a client!

MamaShell, I know several people who sell pretty much this exact same information for $7 to $15, with the addition of a few screenshots and affiliate links to the providers mentioned. I often recommend that people buy those reports. So because that post gives you about the same information for free, I recommend you pay attention to it.

I have personally been using go daddy for about 2 years, knock on wood problem free. But for someone new with maybe only a few sites I would suggest hostgator, its simply to use.

Agreed with Crew Chief. GoDaddy is TERRIBLE...in every aspect except for cheap domains.

The only reason they're so successful is because they spend more on advertising (ie. Danica Patrick) than anyone else.

I use Godaddy to register and manage my domains but host my sites on Host Gator and highly recommend them. Presently, I am hosting a Wordpress blog with them and also have an affiliate site under the same account no complaints at all. My other domains are simply forwarded so I'm not concerned about hosting them anywhere.

I love hostgator and would recommend them to anyone, In fact I use them for my hosting company, I just add more value! (see sig)

IXWebhosting may be my better choice.
If you just need to host your personal blog, usually, a shared web hosting plan is enough to support the traffic to your blog.
Compared with other hosting companies, the price of IX hosting plan can be cheaper than others. Of course, before making your final decision, you'd better look for some independent reviews about popular hosting services and providers in the market.

I've used GoDaddy, Midphase, P4Host, HostGator, Spry, and a few others. As long as they have cPanel and WHM... they are usually good. That said, I like HostGator and GoDaddy the best overall.

Hostgator, hands down.

Their C-Panel has Fantastico which allows you to set up WordPress in about 5 minutes.

You can also find coupon codes for discounts on their plans.

Simple and fast, just the way I like it!

I also think that HostGator is a good choice to start with.

If you can afford the money though, I'd buy into a separate provider as well. Use at least two.

This means that if one host goes down, or your scripts or (more likely) your Wordpress blog(s) gets hacked, then you won't be completely off line.

If you store your two or more main money earning site(s) on both locations (i.e.) on both servers (hosts), then you can change your DNS to either one, in an emergency.

I'm not an expert, but do try to be practical.

Just my thoughts.

I can see you got a lot of the same suggestion here. Hostgator has certainly paved a way in value and the majority of those in this thread already were using them, there are however, other hosting companies that exist now that are as good and better then Hostgator.

I haven't read one thing about Hostgator that you cannot get from the low costing Bluehost so don't just go with because a lot tell you to....

If you want to be on the top of your SEO, use more than one hosting company! Search engines look for how much is coming from one host and IP, when determaining you kniow, things..

Started off with GoDaddy and still have many hosted there but I have a few at Host Gator recently and will never go back to GoDaddy. The speed is much better at Host Gator and the service is top notch.
