How Many Emails To Send To A List?

Hey Everyone,

I was just looking for some advice on how often people send emails to their lists, whether it be a freebie, affiliate, adswap etc...

Just to get a feel for what i should do with my own list.

I was thinking of sending no more than 3 or 4 a week?

Thanks

It depends on what you are sending. If just useful info, 3/week is OK. If you are throwing sales pitch or affiliate product emails, try sending 1/week.

Again there is no hard rule to say this. Just try different number and track the openings.

Email them whenever you have something of value to say.. don't email them just for the sake of it.

Hey Marc thanks for the reply. Yes i have 2 lists i am building at the moment. The main one i work on i have been emailing for a few months... clicks generally can be between 100 and 600, quite a difference.. some weeks i email them 3 or 4 times... others can be 6 or 7. I do like that email i will definately use that as its good to interact with my subscribers from time to time and i want to give them the best information

Are these a list of buyers / members of your site / freebie seekers?

Buyers like to know more about what they bought and how to apply it, so send them a follow-up series to encourage them to get the most out of your product.

Members of a site like to know more about the site, so point them to popular pages, tell them about your affiliate programme, and promo emails for other similar sites.

Freebie seekers, just keep on following up until they decide to buy something.

At the same time you should be broadcasting as and when required, eg product launches, blog posts, and just reminding people who you are and why they should be listening to you.

If you suddenly stop mailing them when you restart you'll have lost the relationship.

Just do whatever you feel comfortable with, but be unique and don't take the piss with a constant barrage of offer after offer.

Well said MJ value. You have nothing of quality to give them don't mail them. Never be afraid not to mail. Don't do it just for the sake of it and don't pitch in every e-mail.

The so called Guru seem to sell in every post, drives me nuts. I delete half of them without even looking at them now. You don't want your list doing that.

Really depends on what you are after . Is it better to have a list of two thousand that you can only mail once a week for fear of unsubing , or is it better to have a list of 1000 that has already been conditioned to open your emails every day ?

I will cut 1000 out quickly to get to the responsive 1000, but then again that is just me .

I email once per week, only if I have something important to say, but I don't send affiliate links to my list so it's not the average list. It is for new site notifications only. I unsubscribe from any list that would email 3 times per week. For me ... that's too much.

I would send out emails 3x/week at the VERY max. If you send out any promos, keep them limited - it's all quality over quantity.

I've said it before, I'll say it again... people are getting bored with the whole promo-after-promo game. Don't email them unless you have something to say. The Latest 'n' Greatest Product Launch will carry more weight if you don't send them to me very often (somehow the "OMG this is the best product evar get it now before it's too late"...)

It depends on the niche that you have built a list in.

In he internet marketing niche, people send emails every day and this works well. In other niches, your subscribers would not be happy if you sent them that many emails.
In most niches 1 email a week is probably max.

Like Marc said, you have to test it. See for yourself what works best in your chosen niche.

Try to limit it to just 3 mails per week... and even then, be creative and allow your subscribers to interact with you as well.

Every now and then send them a mail asking them for feedback or suggestions etc. That'll keep your subscribers involved, and they'll remain active.

I think i will do 3 times a week a mailing. I have a list in the IM niche. I seem to have had great feedback when i have asked my list for suggestions about what they would like. That is definately a fantastic idea!

If I sign up for your E-Zine newsletter and you are providing quality content it will be okay for you to e-mail 3-4 times per week. If you are just pitching me products and services everyday of the week I will probably remove myself from your list.

Yeah, this is good, I send at least 3 a week or up to 7 (you have more chances to make sales, get more subscribers and build a relationship)

whatever you choose stick to it... your subscribers will like the consistency

E-mail your list when you have something that leads to a mutually beneficial outcome for both parties...

    Content/Profits

    Free stuff/extra exposure

    etc etc.

See how simple that is?... it really is.

      Glad to help...

Many people who are selling stuff online, like to over complicate things like this.

When truth be told, the simple stuff works most of the time. Like the topic being discussed here...

      For example:

I have some lists that receive 1 single e-mail/newsletter a month, and they perform incredibly well most of the time, and on the complete flip side... I have some lists that get 7 or 8 e-mails a week. Purely because I have plenty for them, which benefits both parties.

      Peace

      Jay

It depends. In most of my niches I send a new email every day and I get great feedback from my subscribers. Now you don't want to simply send affiliate offers to your list as you won't survive very long. The emails I send are very content packed and give great value. I recommend signing up to the doubleyourdating.com newsletter to see exactly what I mean.

If you can't write great valuable and fun to read emails simply hire someone to do it for you on elance.com

        Cheers,
        Dario

This is an interesting one. I find that if the information is quality content, than once a day should be fine. If it is promotional material, than once a week should be fine.

    First things first,

Do you have a list already?
    Have you been emailing them?
    What have your results been?

    Adjust accordingly.

Only you can determine what's a good "mail rate" for your list. And in fact, you can just come right out and ask them for their feedback. Email them 5 days in a row with solid content, give them a day off, and on day 7, send them an email that says:
"Hey, I know I BOMBARDED you with emails
over the past 5 days or so. :-) I tried my
best to make them as killer as I could.

I put my best stuff in them.

Now, since I gave you so much free
actionable stuff... Do me a favor real
    quick:

I just want to hear from you!

Did you benefit from the stuff I gave
you? Did you enjoy it? What do YOU
    think?

The reason why I am asking is because
it's really going to help me make my
    stuff better for you :-)

    HERE'S THE THING:

You're my subscriber. And because you're
my subscriber, I have a vested interest in
    your success.

So if I'm sending you too many emails, or
not enough, let me know. If you have any
    questions, just fire away now.

Hit "reply" to this email and send me your
thoughts right now. Thank you. I really
appreciate it and I'll talk to you soon.

    Yours,
    Marc

P.S. I read every email I get. In fact, I
think I'm addicted to checking my email.
So don't forget I'd love to hear from you :-)"
    Hey thanks,
Really good example email you have for sending out when you have slammed your list I have to put this one in my swipe file.

    Thanks,
