Copywriter Training Advice

Hey all,

So i have taken on a freind who is average at writting but shows great potential to work for me full time.

I need to find a course prefrably a video coure on writting good copy, something tailoured to begginers getting into it so it will take her from a begginer and teach her about writting to the 4 personality types etc.

Does anyone know of a good priced (Or WSO) Video training courses on copywritting?

Which would be a good fit? :p

Thanks, Regards

Mikey

There's not a good copywriting course available. To tell you the truth, most of the guys who reckon to be great copywriters suck. I've personally seen them send out articles to Ezinearticles with their resource boxes. And you know what: Their click through rate is less than 10%.
My CTR averages at 30% after submitting 300 articles. And I haven't taken a single copywriting course. The best thing you can tell your friend to do is to model other successful people.

I mainly improved my conversions by modelling the best. I think Rob Howard has a WSO on Art of The Irresistible Offer. Rob lays it out in a simple manner - the writing part. But his promotional techniques aren't that effective. You can get it if you like.

Or You can get Joe Vitale's Hypnotic Writing. The Swipe file is very effective. Here is a fact, Pay close attention here, you will be amazed and stuff.

    Secret To CopyWriting Success:
    - Use A Swipe File
    - Practice every day
    - Have A Demand Or an objective in your mind before writing
    - Provide value. If you are selling a product, reveal one extremely effective technique they can implement right away to get results.
    - Introduce your product and Kill with attention grabbers and action takers

Examples of attention grabbers and action takers: Pay Close Attention, I strongly urge you.. Blah blah blah. Any marketer would have charged $27 for this info in the copywriting arena. You can also induce fear. Failure to implement the technique will cause you to live alone forever, blah, blah blah.

And there you have them taking action

One of the better ebook copywriting course is Lenny Eng's
    "Confessions of a Website Copywriter"

Paul Hancox has a video course but it might go right over
your friend's head. It deals a lot with NLP stuff.

... don't take some of the comments here seriously. Writing
sales copy and writing articles are different, though related skills.

Much of the copywriting information available online is rephrased
from the classic books on the topic. I've read dozens of them.

Good free resources for learning how to be effective with sales
copy include The Gary Halbert Letter
    and The Total Package

The four personality types theory, prominent in MLM sales training,
is not often taught in relation to copy. I mean with the reds
and the blues, and the purples and greens or whatever.

There's an old Greek system I use sometimes to put together offers -
I think it's from the Pythagorean school. This system uses four
quadrants to sort of make archetypal models of the way people
    make decisions.

Basically people are either timid or assertive and make decisions
in an intellectual way or in an impulsive, emotional way. The timid
ones respond well to testimonials and fear risk. The assertive
respond well to bold claims and are willing to take risks. The
impulsive, assertive ones are the easiest to sell "make money"
products to - they also may be prone to gambling. The assertive,
intellectual ones want facts and figures - they are intolerant of
fluff and skeptical of hyperbole... but they are prepared to buy
when the offer meets their criteria.

On a quadrant it looks kind of like this:

    Timid | Assertive
    _______________
    |_Ti ___|_Ai ___| Impulsive/emotional
    |_Td __|_Ad____| Discerning/skeptical

"timid" also includes people who have not been conditioned
to make decisions. Entrepreneurs are usually not afflicted
by "decision reluctance", but many people are.
