Why aren't people opting into my site?
www(dot)pragmaticmartialarts.com

I have a adwords ad that sends visitors to this page:

I get about 1000 new visitors to my site every month and very few (1%) actually sign up.

Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advanced!

Tyler

One thing I saw STRAIGHT AWAY is the videos, not saying that you should get rid of them but they do bring a lot of attention. Also, the opt-in doesn't really appeal to me that much, there's nothing exciting about it; no offence but the ebook design itself could have a bit more spark about it.

Also, keep in mind that people in MMA probably don't even know what an ebook is about, try to relate to them a little more. Perhaps offer a video, with the opt-in above it; then see how that goes?

Not too sure what would work best, but as I mentioned saying subscribe and you'll instantly receive more FREE videos may get more attention.

Edit: Eh, Corey you beat me to it :p

    Tyler,

You have way to many holes on this page....

There is really no 'need' for them to optin for anything as you give them EVERYTHING they might possibly want at the click of a mouse...you need to take EVERYTHING away except 1 video, and the opt-in box.

Wet their appetite with one video....then tell them if they optin, they can get 3 more videos of live examples of your training.

So basically you need to drive all your traffic to a squeeze page.....NOT your CMS....

..and plug all those holes! (meaning, the only way for them to go is to opt-in or leave)

First off, thanks For all the advice.

danielgb123, no offense taken and im happy to hear anything that can help me become better at this!

So far, this is what i got:

      1. Move the Opt-in box to the right.
      2. Make A more enticing offer
      3. Remove all but one video from the site.
      4. Send all traffic to squeeze page

Anything Else, that you think would help?

Great advice, it's not easy list building, there is so much tweaking to do with the landing page, I've always built lists though SEO, never bothered with PPC, I don't know if I could deal with the landing page tweaking and the PPC tweaking at the same time ha.

I would also lose the words 'join now' - this implies a fee - better to use "subscribe now"

The position is OK - people read left to right so moving it ti the right will be even less effective for you.

Also, the graphics of the freebie books look lame.

And yep, I would agree that the page is too busy.

    Hope this helps?

"Adam is a highly innovative martial artist with the ability to take simple ideas and make them functional. Through hard work and persistence, Adam has reached an impressive level of skill while developing his own "way" and applying it to real self-defense. "

ok, the layout and copy needs work.
Start by aiming it at women as well and make it about defence rather than "winning street fights".
put a long blurb at the top under the logo about how dangerous our society has become and how this information can save your life.
Tell visitors that you can teach them how to momentarily incapacitate an attacker and give themselves enough time to get to help or to escape the situation that they find themselves in.
put a video under that with a woman in it doing what you are selling (fighting off an attacker).
under that put your testimonials and ebook sign up.

Self-Development Through Hard Training !!! (sounds like hard work)

    OR

    READ the next sentence carefully.

IF you do below its just a variation on what you are already doing and will drive traffic away to other parts of the site (forum, dvd's etc) and away from the ebook signup (you could put the dvd sales into the ebook and the forum on a different site all together).

Or put your ebook information on the right at the top with monetising content under it (adverts for these loud sirens or these cans of spray paint that you spray into at attackers face or whatever).
You will also need some monetising content to the left if you do this to balance out the layout of the page. I would put the links section there with some adsense under it.

If all you are interested in is getting signups then for your ebook though then dump the links section and put it on a different url and just run a two column background with all the info going straight down the middle leading to the ebook signup at the bottom.

    I like the logo.

There's been some really good advice so far. I think you'll get the best results from sending all your traffic to a dedicated squeeze page. Make it as simple as possible with only a headline some bullets and an optin box.

Try to jump into your visitors shoes and see it from their point of view. Why would they opt-in to your list? Just to get 2 ebooks they know nothing about?

I would take some time to write a strong headline that grabs attention and tells them what the ebooks will do for them. Then put some strong bullet points in there explaining what things will change in their life as a result of reading those books.

I think you could use your videos as killer content to send your list after they opt-in too.
