Amazon doesn't care what the format is. As far as they are concerned, they are just hosting files for you, because that is all they are doing.
Get the S3 Fox plugin for Firefox to easily access S3.

You can put any file type on Amazon. I am seeing more and more sites even hosting their user interface images and other kinds of content there.

    Kirk and Michael are right.

You might look into using FLVs or h.264 Quicktime, just because they look great while keeping the file size small and your bill down.

    But you can use anything.

I think the question is (at least my question is) not about the format to upload to S3, but is there a proper format that will stream from a website (ie; my thank you page(s))?

Given this question; The videos I have are MP4 and SWF format. Which would be more appropriate?

I will also be using optimize press. I understand this has a built in video player for my thank you pages, right?

      Thanks for helping out!

      Best,
      Nelson

I have been using videos with Amazon S3 for years and by far the best format for quality/size ratio is the mp4 video.

I agree with WillR, the mp4 format for me has the best
quality for a small size. That's what I would recommend.

I use the S3 Fox organizer plugin to upload my videos -works like a FTP program but instead you upload using your Firefox browser. You can search YouTube for tutorials on using the plugin.

In terms of type of videos you use its really up to you as Amazon s3 only host the files for you.

With videos you always want to go for the smallest file size while retaining video quality.

I mostly use flash (.flv) videos but have started using more mp4 videos as flash doesn't work on apple devices (Macs, ipads, ipods etc.) and I want to reach my entire audience.

Just try and keep the file sizes small as this can reduce your bill.
