If you are looking for free tools to submit to social bookmarking sites than onlywire.com and socialmarker.com are your best bets.

I prefer and use Bookmarking Demon.

However, no matter what bookmarking software you use, you need to look out for:

Scuttle sites - "Scuttle" is a program that let's you run your own BM site. Scuttle seems to have a security problem and therefore, some scuttle sites may contain viruses. Scuttle sites are a great way to build links, but use caution.

Accounts - It takes a lot of time to create accounts for each and every bookmark/scuttle site. Then, you can only bookmark a few of your own pages with each account.

You need to come up with plenty of your own resources, such as squidoo, hubpages, blogger, your own site, etc, so you can bookmark each of these without setting off red flags.

You will also need to add a bunch of links to other sites. Choose sites not in your niche...Humor and political stuff works well as camoflage. Then "weave" your own URLs in with the "camoflage" URLs.

for blogs, Auto Social Poster plugin works pretty good.

I used social bot from Big Mike and will neither confirm nor deny an increase in pagerank, but I won't deny it. ;-)

We use AutoSocialposter for all our blogs. Works like a charm and love the backlinks. Almost all our websites are WP based so its good value for money.

Otherwise, we use Big Mike's Socialbot (very fast but unfortunately no IP masking feature) with a combination of Bookmarking Demon (Love their Proxy IP Masking feature).
