Slick Method To Drive Huge Traffic Spikes

Everybody wants traffic. Traffic is like the lifeblood of your online business. Without it your business will fail. Well this is a slick way to drive traffic to your CPA offers, clickbank products, sales pages, squeeze pages, or articles.

Firstly, I want to say that this method is not exactly original and I'm sure you have all seen it before - probably a few times over. I just fine tuned it to pull some sick traffic spikes.

This method involves writing press releases (I know, I know, but keep reading you may learn something yet here) - and getting them syndicated to Google News. Oh, and did I mention I am taking the guess work out of it? Almost all of my press releases get syndicated to Google News.

Okay, first off we want to head over to Google Hot Trends and see what is currently hot right now. You don't have to do this though, you can just search keywords related to your offers to see if they are in the news. Likewise, you can check Google News for breaking news that will be hot in the next few hours (this method always brings me the most traffic). Either way, we want to find 3 keywords that are currently in the news. These keywords should have news results come up in the top 3 positions in Google - otherwise don't bother with them.

Heading over to Google Hot Trends right now I see the keyword "ufc 112 results" - so I click on it to get related keywords and see what the traffic is looking like. The traffic peak seems to be 3 hours ago but this keyword is still getting a ton of searches right now so it's not a big deal. I find the related keywords: "anderson silva" and "ufc 112 fight card".

So at this point all I have done is taken a quick peek at Google Hot Trends and found 3 keywords that rank #1 in Google (due to Google News). Those keywords are:

ufc 112 results
anderson silva
ufc 112 fight card

From here I would write a quick press release. The title of my press release would be: "UFC 112 Results - Anderson Silva - UFC 112 Fight Card" - exactly like that. I would then use the 3 main keywords in the first paragraph. The main keyword - ufc 112 results would be sprinkled in the press release to a 3-4% density.

So you get your keywords and write a press release about them, simple right?

Okay, now here is the part where people seem to fall off. First you need to find a way to monetize the traffic, second you need to actually get your press release syndicated to Google News.

The first place I usually check is Clickbank. There are some "fighting" related products but they may not convert. So then I would check some CPA offers. **** Berry may be related but it's a roll of the dice. What would be great would be promoting tickets to the next UFC fight. Stubhub, or any other ticket site would be perfect for this type of thing.

So go through all your accounts and find the perfect offer. Google News will bring you a lot of traffic, but you need the perfect offer to make it convert. If you can't find any way to monetize the traffic then why not use it to boost views on an article or send them to a fresh squeeze page and get them on a list? I have found that Google News can bring hordes of traffic and you can build a list quicker this way than any other way I have tried.

Back to the method, you need to get it syndicated to Google News right? Well its actually pretty brainless just make sure you use the right sites. The first is bignews.biz - they need to approve your press release but it is almost guarenteed that you will get it syndicated.

The second site is gather.com - one you may not have heard of. You create a new post and it will get picked up by Google News, sometimes within 10 minutes. The best thing about Gather is they pay you money for brining traffic to their site, and they allow you to post links anywhere in the article.

A good press release can bring you about 2,000-20,000 visitors to your release. I sometimes get up to 10% click through on the offers. Imagine putting hundreds of people on your squeeze page in a single day. Or imagine ranking #1 for Miley Cyrus - even above her own website? I did, for 6 hours one day and brought in over 5,000 hits to my press release.

Okay, I'm done for now - have fun writing and profiting!

There have been many wso's sharing this strategy over the years, it's also been shared openly in the forum - people don't need to pay for information like this here.

Agreed, there's no point in rehashing the same info over and over again. I suppose I really could have condensed this down; however, it only took a few minutes to write up and I figured it could help people who haven't seen the method done yet.

The main points I wanted to illustrate are the sites to use, how to find the keywords, the fact that you don't need to rely solely on Google Trends, and how to monetize.

It's simple -what he's saying is.....

Google News (a google service that shares news it gets from sites/blogs) gives whatever content it finds a pretty decent distribution.

Therefore - the principle is - find some current popular terms and put some content on sites that Google news picks up.

So - write a press release, post it to places that Google news likes (He gave 2 examples).

That way they'll get picked up by the Google news service and reprinted on lots of news feed sites.

You can submit your own site or blog to be picked up as a news feed easily so that you don't need to do this, but this is still a useful simple process that's free and anyone can do.

It would seem that a high PR press release site that carries your content would easily outperform a newer site (your own site), right? Have you had good results with this on your own site? Is your site aged and/or high PR?

HAHA...no offense, but this is EXACTLY what i thought! Heck, how OFTEN did i read about the effectiveness of press releases... But you know what? I never really did it.

Until when i simply wrote a couple PRs in 10 mins and i got #1 in google within HOURS.

--> The fact that its "old information" is utterly irrelevant if people don't DO it. I guess 90% of IM consists of such methods we all "know"...but rarely DO for whatever reasons.

See this where you and I part company...

Absolutly no reason not to create a WSO and sell it to those who hav'nt seen it or will never go looking for it.

Information products are not about just creating new content its about collating and presenting freely available information into a format anyone can get quickly.

The outline of that post plus a video going through the whole process, is a useful product that someone will find informative.

Add in some niche mini site templates (or some blog themes) that can be used quickly to put sites up based around the strategy would be a good upsell. Add in a swipe file of press release templates that can be altered to suit, and tyou have a winner

Not everybody is a know it all Andy

You're right it's been said before and I even wrote a product about it about 4 or 5 years ago - but thanks for sharing. I use press releases all the time but I pay Prweb to distribute them so they get excellent views but this is good for people who want to do it all for free.

you use Prweb, which payment option do you use?

and can you give some steps to get the best out of using this, even with the cheapest package $80 per news release?

or you dont advice this cheap package? (this is just for basic Press releases)

Great post.........fantastic method to drive quck bursts of traffic broken down in easy to understand steps. Those UFC fights have a huge following and always the day prior and day of the fight there is a massive amount of interest created.

Additionally, with the fight taking place tonight I would expect the "UFC 112 results" to be a huge phrase as the day progress on.

    Respectfully,
    Tim

I made a try on this method. I checked on google news - took the top story, the seemingly best keywords, polish plane crash as main polish president as second and hmm something as third. I posted this on gather.com.

      3 views. Strange..?

Top stories do not always equal top interest.

Most people get their political news from the news websites.

But entertainment news is where you will attract the most attention, as the original poster indicated when he mentioned a lot of his press releases that had to do with entertainment topics.

Before knowing that gather.com was better for entertainment news, I made a press release about Euro-Zones offer for Greece to loan money. Sent it to them. 3 views. Sent the same thing to bignews - 48 views!

So.. those aren't big numbers, but it could be a sign that more serious stuff works, if not well than, better for bignews. Possibly the right keywords could do wonders for real news' press releases on bignews.. dunno. If so, it might be a good idea to do both.

It's good stuff both as a reminder on the Google Trends stuff as well as a little more nudge on Gather.

That's why I love this forum though, people actually share useful information instead of the usual IM junk of socially bookmark your pages.

Would you mind posting an example of a press release you wrote? Just tried your method, and while my press release was accepted by biznews.biz an hour ago, Google news hasn't seemed to syndicate it. (Can't find it when I search Google news.)

As for gather.com, I submitted a post, but can't figure out if there is any special thing you have to do to mark it as a press release.

Gather can be picked up as quickly as ten minutes and as long as a few hours. Big News will take a few hours to get approved then it's the same story timewise.
