Fonts - do they matter to your bottom line? have you ever tested this??

hey guys,

Do using certain Fonts make an impact on your bottom line?

Is this something that is generally split tested?

What fonts do you use, which work best on screen, I prefer black text on white background but thats a whole different ball game but colors aside what fonts do you recommend for main text, testimonials etc.

I know we are limited to fonts installed on the majority of computers but I'd still love to know what others are using and prefer.

thanks
andy

I suspect that it depends on the audience as well as the design of your sales/squeeze page.

I've tested and it can make a difference - or not.

Same goes with colors of title/subheads. Sometimes it matters, sometimes not.

Color has mattered in my cases. I have used red and blue for headlines and depending on the color setting of my website they both work very well.

Font type does matter some also, but not nearly as much as color. It seems to me that as long as the font is easily readable it does not matter which one you choose.

Real world ad designers spend hours deciding which is the correct--read ideal, best converting--font to use in an ad. There have been countless books written about the effective use of typography.

Fonts are an integral part of the image of your firm and offer. At a psychological level they leave a lasting impression--good, bad or indifferent.

What would be your initial impression of a high-dollar offer from a staid, conservative, reputable (assuming there are any left) financial institution that used Comic Sans MS for the body copy?

While there are an untold number of fonts out there, for most uses three or four will suffice.

Which ones? That's easy, use the same fonts the successful in your niche are using.

The difference is small, but tiny improvements in design can add up to massive improvements in conversions.

But it's one of those small changes where you need to determine what gives you the most value for your time and making the appropriate decision.

For example, if you are using Adwords, would you make more spending that time improving your landing page or creating new campaigns?

i know it can but if you're testing that out first or even close to first you're TOTALLY missing the boat.

focus testing the most important things first.

      HEADLINE and OFFER.

Once you've got them nailed, THEN you can move on to testing smaller things like that.

      Most people do it backwards.
