CB Question -Is sending affiliates to landing page ok?

Hi Warriors,

Just have a newbie CB question that I'd like to pose here.

I'm going to do a membership site launch in the next two or three weeks, and before the final sales page, I'd like to have affiliates send traffic to my landing page where I collect opt-ins and drip out some free content over a week or two.

Is that feasible? Or specificly, in a CB context, how to generate a hoplink for affiliates to send traffic to a landing page instead of a sales page, and later get credit for referred sales?

I understand this might be considered as stealing affiliate's list, and I'm okay to have all the free content displayed on affiliate's site as long as they send traffic to the sales page in the end.

My point is, is there any possiblity for CB affiliates to send traffic to any page other than sales page, like free content page, FAQ page, or just a "welcome and here's what to expect from me before you need to take out credit card." page?

In other words, my intention is to warm up the traffic over the period of a week or so, send some introductory content regarding the membership site, and some free helpful materials before I finally send them to the sales page. I guess that would help conversion rate and stuff.

I have no list and my traffic source would be primarily from affiliates, which is where the question lies in.

I have searched this on Google but didn't quite get a clear clue, so I'd appreciate anyone could fill me on this question.

Thanks a bunch for any help in advance!

Thanks Alexa, your answer helps. And I agree that in most cases only the very big affiliates would agrue over sending their lists to my landing page, which brings in easy opt-ins for me while they did the very hard work to collect those emails in the first place.

And here's the technical question I'd still like to ask:

Is there a possiblity for vendors or affiliates to generate a valid hoplink on CB that sends traffic to pages other than sales page?

Again, I'd appreciate much for any feedback. Thanks a bunch in advance!

        Yes.

Vendors can use easyClickMate or HopGuard

        Affiliates can use Affiliate Cloner

Thanks Harvey! I'll look into easyClickMate and HopGuard that you mentioned.

In the mean time, has anyone tried them before? I'd appreciate any reviews or thoughts about them.

          Thanks!

My feedback would be that I, as a general rule, don't promote any products where there is any sort of an opt-in on the page. The more "squirrely" the page looks the quicker I say "NEXT!"

I may not be the heaviest hitter on this forum but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that it would be very easy for a vendor to cut you out of the loop with an opt-in. For me, the sales page either has to be REALLY REALLY AWESOME or the product has to fit my niche really really well... and I have to be able to sell the crap out of it to keep you from getting that opt-in.

        Just my honest feedback dude

Thank you for your thoughts, Bretski. I didn't realize having opt-ins are such a pain for affiliates...

Yet, here's the question that I wonder: I remember receiving many emails by IM gurus recommending an amazing video or free report that someone just did. After I clicked the link I was sometimes taken to a landing page where I have to fill in emails before I can see the video, or the free report.

So what's going on here? I may assume that it's the buzz before a big launch. But what really happens when affiliates like those gurus choose to send their list to a landing page? Can I say that in this case, affiliates have good reason to believe that they won't get cut off from the loop?

Anyway, thanks again to Bretski, I appreciate your useful feedback.

Which is why I'm wishing you well finding serious affiliates who will do that. My guess is that the 90% of affiliates who collectively bring in only 10% of the affiliate sales won't have much problem with it. The other 10%, who can bring in 90% of the affiliate sales, are another story altogether ...
Clickbank allows vendor's to do that certainly but will affilaites trust you?
