Yeah! I finally received a check from Amazon after 5 years...

And the check's amount is $109.15

That's pathetic! After 5 years!

Anyway, Amazon is not my focus as I focused mainly on Adsense. I put them up in my sites along with my Adsense and they are usually at the lower or side folds

Amazon isn't the greatest tool in the world for direct affiliate product selling is it, if i can avoid Amazon in that sense i generally do.

You can have great success with Amazon affiliates if you find an unsaturated market. I used to earn $30 a day through my charcoal grill website before I decided it was time to try something new. I like the fact that its really easy to write about Amazon products because all the information you need is in the customer reviews page.

lol it probably took me that long to get my first cheque too. I have to say that since then I've received quite a few. I think Amazon is worth spending some time on- sure the commissions aren't as attractive as say a ClickBank product but you earn commission on everything the person puts in their cart. I know that I never buy just one thing from Amazon, I'm always tempted to throw a few more things in my basket

You know, Amazon is not my thing, Adsense is. I also get tiny commissions from them, hardly worth mentioning. I get far better results from CJ.

I agree with HKActivity. Find niche Amazon products and create a targeted keyword rich blog/review website focused on your chosen niche. If you drive enough targeted traffic, you should get results.

I'm still using amazon on my websites, mainly book recommendations though which explains why I've only made maybe $25 in say 10 years. I guess If I we're being more picky about my niches/products I could probably do better.

The only way I ever got any money from Amazon's affiliate program was when my Mum wanted to buy anything, I gave her my affiliate link. I didn't make a fortune, but considering how many books and CDs she buys, it all helped

Lol....that's why it boggles my mind why site flippers keep building sites with Amazon stuff and use it as a benefit. It's nothing but sugar coating to sell the sites.

To me, it's a just another hole in your site where traffic can slip through....for the average Joe, it's just a black hole.

Well, I just added links to my product reviews on my AdSense sites.
Quite simply, it works sometimes pretty well.

Last month I made 1/3 my AdSense revenue. the main focus of those sites.
OK, so it's only a few bucks, but it'll be a few extra thousand for the year

I've got two sites where Amazon blows away AdSense (think office equipment and kitchen tools), but on most sites AdSense is far better.

Amazon has a way that makes it possible for one to generate income but it usually takes longer than Adsense. With Adsense you can just set it up and expect some change within few weeks, but Amazon,...another case indeed.

So, if it's so difficult to make money with Amazon, why have I seen a few (supposed) success stories floating around in recent times?
Is it just re-hashed crap, or are people really making money with Amazon?

Every now and again I get a few sales of products that not only am I not promoting, but I've also never heard of them. As I said, so much potential with Amazon.

For me, getting the first cheque is always great and there are many cheques that are following thereafter.

Main thing will be knowing what you have done that brings in the cheque. Once you know where and how then this is what you need to do and focus on to bring in more cheques.

Many people never track on what they do and when the cheque comes in, they have no idea how or why. So, start tracking and know where your cheques are coming from and repeat the process.

Those of you that don't do well with your Amazon sites, I would bet that there are 3 things that's affecting your overall results:

    1) You have a very barebones autoblog setup - Review sites work much MUCH better!

    OR

    2) Your sites are not ranked in the top 3 of Google for your product keyword phrases - Backlinking will get you to the top 3!

    OR

    3) You're selling inexpensive products - Only go for products selling above $100!

I have shifted my entire focus to Amazon Associates, keeping the above 3 principles in mind and every month my commissions have grown significantly!...Don't be quick to give up on Amazon! There's lots of great information on WF that you can use to grow your income!

You've got it spot on here. There are good ways and bad ways to promote Amazon products. We've done extremely well from Amazon but only when we went about it the right way.

Review sites do really well but the reviews can't just be a few words thrown on a page. They have to be detailed and provide a lot of info.

I make a pretty steady amount via Amazon every month. Around the $1.2k mark.

Considering I haven't touched any of my sites in like 7 months, I consider that pretty good monthly earning for the amount of work you have to do.

        The keys are:
        • Not using auto-generated content - about 500 million blogs out there exist with auto-generated content. YOU MUST USE UNIQUE CONTENT if you plan to make anything from it.
        • Writing good reviews that convert
        • Finding high ticket items with a mix of low ticket items to boost up commission percent
        • Target buying keywords
        • Get rid of adsense, ebay, etc and focus on Amazon only.
        • Going after hobby oriented niches like Yoga,Martial Arts, magic, etc.(lots of rabid buyers who can't pass on product offers)

Hey man, if Adsense is your business model then by all means, don't stray from it.

I just know that your Amazon sales will suffer if adsense blocks are leaking away your traffic. On the other hand, if the clicks are worth substituting Amazon sales, then by all means....

    That's pathetic! After 5 years!

Anyway, Amazon is not my focus as I focused mainly on Adsense. I put them up in my sites along with my Adsense and they are usually at the lower or side folds

Congrats!! better than nothing I will say.

I am quite new to all this stuff really and I am waiting to see my first cheque from Amazon for my efforts. I have made close to £150 from April to date from just one site on an Amazon product but since they pay every two months I'm still waiting for the first cheque! The site was set up in February and hit the 1st page of google by the end of March with outsourced backlinks. I am not even in the no 1 spot!! If Amazon affiliate is your model and you work a little harder, from my limited experience, I am sure you will see some nice commissions.

I can't stop checking my affiliate account every day, I enjoy it!! It motivates me, exciting! lol!

I know a few people that do really well with Amazon, but I've never understood the damn thing. Congrats on your painstaking labor though! You made over $20 a year.

I only got approximately $12 and its not enough to get a check. I've lost hope in making more sales, so i'm focusing more in adsence now.

    Congrats
