Is it time to take out those javascripts, long sales letters, annoying sales pitch pop-ups?

Google explained how increasing your site speed increases your site ranking in Google.

Official Google Webmaster Central Blog: Using site speed in web search ranking

Mmmm ... If I take it seriously, I'd takeout Google adsense ads first which makes the pages load like forever.

But I did take it seriously. So I removed third paty addthis buttons from couple of my sites, minimized few image sizes y'day. Though this is not sole criterion to place your web site SERPs, but they say it helps. Who knows what is behind this Google strategy.

No... I have seen long sales letters load up in a flash. The unfair thing about this is, I have a 20meg connection and everything loads fast but we will be penalized if someone has a 500k connection.

Sales pages will never go, they work, it's proven. What will most likely happen is, the sales pages will be hosted on a separate domain if it effects SEO that much.

I don't think people still are using text only browsers, windows 95/98s or 500k dia-up connections anymore.

What will most likely happen is, the sales pages will be hosted on a separate domain if it effects SEO that much.
How that is useful? Still the page to load from somewhere. Right?

Best we can do is optimize the images, minimize the scripts, or pop-ups etc.

8 track was proven too (and some of you have no clue what that is now). Anyway OP never said sales letters just long ones. Its a small factor not the thing thats going to get you an automatic number one slot.

You can place all the image, javascripts and other "slower-downers" on a content delivery network like CDN. Problem solved.

I read somewhere that Matt Cutts said that content will still be king. If you think about it, Google's first commitment to searchers is quality results. I think that if there are two sites that Google can't distinguish because they both have quality, relevant content, then they'll prefer the site that loads faster, since it provides a better user experience.

You're unlikely to be affected by it since roughly 1% of queries will actually change as a result.

Full fledge add in the middle of a discussion means I won't be giving you a try. Not a good sign.
