Keeping a Domain Name vs. Selling It

I have a website whose content I am going to move to another site.

It gets a minimal amount of traffic, mainly because I haven't promoted it in forever. Has AdSense but doesn't seem to register with Google so there are no earnings there.

I can set up a 301 redirect to the content's location on the other site or I could sell the domain, in which case, maybe it would be more worthwhile to leave the content up until a new owner takes over and builds his/her own website? (The reason for that is that it would give the new owner an opportunity to build his/her own content on pages with the same names/keywords as the current pages, making it look like a website update and less like a brand spanking new site.)

The domain name is about 18 months old. The website is probably about as old.

It is a three-word domain name, keyword phrase (2 words) plus a generic word. It's a .com. According to SpyFu, the cost per click on the keyword phrase is anywhere from $1 to $8. On Google, the global monthly search volume is 3,350,000. For the keyword phrase, it's in the bottom of the barrel of Google's search results (gave up looking at page 4). For the keyword phrase plus generic word, it is #6 in Google, but apparently there are only about 300 monthly searches on that. Currently, 62.5% of visitors use that three-word phrase to find the site.

I wouldn't want to sell the website content; only the domain name. What I am wondering is what I might be able to get for the domain name itself. If, for example, it'd be worth less than $100, it's probably not worth selling.

I tried to do some research on this, but didn't get far. It seems to come down to a group of people that believe aged domains have value and the other side which believes they don't. Of course, the ideal situation would be to find someone in the former group who would want it, which should be relatively easy since the anti-aged domain value group indicated where the "fools" are that buy such domains. (And, no, that wasn't here, if that's what you were thinking.)

Anyway, just wanted to get some feedback on that. If it's not worth selling, I could move the content and setup the 301 redirect tonight; if it is worth selling, well, obviously I would need to hold off on that.

Thanks!

Yep, place it up for sale at flippa or some other domain auction site.
