You can point anywhere you like, pretty much.

Beware that Adwords in an auction. Only one advertiser can win in each auction for a particular page. That's why direct linking to affiliate offers is not a great strategy. The vendor himself, and other affiliates (who may direct link) are all fighting for the same single position.

Put another way, if I have a product on Clickbank I will surely advertise on PPC and send traffic to my landing page. If you are an affiliate, you are competing against me if you want to direct link. If you have your OWN landing page, then you are simply competing with me (same end goal, diffenent URLs). Best to have your own unique landing page / squeeze page.

Also you need to be seen as RELEVANT by google. Don't bother putting up a site with 2 or 3 pages and using PPC. You'll get slapped. Build out a site with 15 good articles, keyword rich content, privacy policy, sitemap, contact us page, etc.

im not a PPC expert but i disagree to this statement.

youre doing PPC man and not SEO. so the number of pages is not really important when it comes to PPC.

as some of the warriors said, split test offers (thru PPC) then build site to the one which gets the better conversion. this is where SEO comes to play.
