INTERNET MARKETING

Hello guys i got a guy that wants me to make him a site. But how much would you charge a person to make them a site and rank it to the first page on Google.
with a search volume of 5,000 - 10,000 i would appreciate your feed back thanks

You have 2 jobs there, building the site and then ranking it number one....the first can be done in an hour if it is a simple site and you know what you are doing, the ranking is an ongoing project and will depend on a lot of factors....price based on his competition...

I recommend you first set a base cost for your web design services, then figure out how much you want to charge based on what your client wants from the site (any database work? Server-side scripting? etc..)

You should not be choosing the niche. I think that is something your client should do. I think the more you take on, the higher you will have to charge. But selecting the niche is kind of a double edged sword. What if you pick a niche your client wasn't even considering. You already stated that the site is a weight loss site. Then your target audience should be people who are trying to lose weight. Now the niche is a more concentrated target, like for example, losing weight through dancing, or losing weight the natural way, or even losing weight with a raw diet. See, it is such a competitive and wide market I would suggest you do not take the responsibility of choosing the niche but rather advise your client as to his or her options.

I would recommend showing up the benefit that a website will have and how much it will increase his revenue per month. For Example if he is making $15 000 per month and with additional website traffic he will be making $20 000 per month then he will gladly pay you $2000 for a website and $1000 a month to help maintain his rankings.

You should price your products according to the impact they will have on your clients bottom line in order to create a win/win situation for both parties.
