Changes in Webmaster Tools??!?

Anyone else notice the changes in google webmaster tools dashboard? Whatya think?

I was logged into an account that I checked less than 30 minutes ago and went back to check something else and the format has completely changed. So far it looks cool, but the only thing I missed is being able to get a quick summary/update of what position your keywords were in when being searched or clicked thru. Looks like it has now changed to show how many impressions you get for a particular kw and then the ctr.

Anyway I'll have to poke around some more, but thought I'd see if anyone else noticed as it happened in the middle of me working in the system.

EDIT: wow, this is pretty cool so far, now when you go to more in the keywords section you get a detailed report for each keyword telling you how many visits you got from each placement.

  • Yeah, the new changes are great! This will be very handy in working out what is and isn't working for your site.
  • I think it's pretty cool, it makes makes a lot of things easy, it's like integrating google analytics into the webmaster tool
  • I agree so far I like it better, for the most part, as it gives a lot more detail than before. The only thing i am struggling to understand is when it says the kw was found on page 3+. I wonder how deep they check. Does that mean it is somewhere between page 3 and 10 or page 3 and 100?

    I can't seem to find a resource that explains that, but maybe I am missed something. So if anyone has a link they can direct me or knows the answer to that I would appreciate it.

    • That just means that someone has viewed more than 3 pages of results and your page showed up there. This would be an unusual occurence so they just generalised it to 3+. It would be unusuable to show every page your links appeared on.
