I'm writing an eBook ... but I'm using a mac. What PDF creator?

I'm using a mac to write an eBook that I will sell on ClickBank. What's the best way to do this? Should I create it in open office and convert to a PDF?

I want the book to look nice, so I was wondering if anyone knows if any eBook/PDF creators for Mac.

I have not used Mac before but I think a simple google search can help you in this case.

James, Mac OS X has been able to print to PDF from any app since about 2001.

Click on the "File" menu, then "Print..." then look somewhere near the bottom of the print dialog box. Depending on your version of OS X, you'll either see a "Save as PDF..." button or a "PDF..." button.

Check out the buttons at the bottom of this screengrab...

The built in PDF converter in MAC is fast and easy to use (faster and easier than Adobe Acrobat). No need to buy a special software for this if you have a MAC :-)

    Hey

I'm on a Mac too. And you don't need most 3rd party apps, as many are in-built.

When using "Save As" is TextEdit, save it as a .PDF file.

  • Pages, which comes with iWork, has the best PDF creation tool in the world (next to Acrobat Pro, of course). With the customizable templates in Pages, and the ability to export them straight into PDF format, you'll be able to come up with an eBook that will put everything else in the market right now to shame, design-wise, at least.

All you need is killer content.

I've had a mac for 2 years, own a macbook pro and an iMac and I didn't even know about iWork!! Shame on me.

I've just used pages, and it looks great.

I've decided to release my product as videos. Just purchased a nice headset. I think video's work a lot better. I will use an eBook for the bits I am not doing a video for.

I'm excited about putting together my first product. It's going to take a while, I just hope the hard work pays off.

    Hi James!

If you are running Mac OSX, you can also convert your PDF file to a .zip file with just a click. Find your PDF file, do a CONTROL click on the file, and then scroll down to the CREATE ARCHIVE option. Your PDF file is converted into a .zip file.

It will shrink its size so it downloads faster, and Google can't read .zip files so it is less likely to get indexed by "G" than a PDF file.

      PAGES PAGES PAGES

Pages comes with Iwork and will export to pdf, as well as other formats.

I have used open office as well - which is a good free solution if you don't have funds but you should definitely have Iwork as soon as you can add it to your mac tools arsenal.

It will give you some other things that you are going to be happy to have such as numbers which can do spreadsheets and the invaluable Keynote which can be used easily to create some great slideshows - where you can add a little garageband beat to the background and you are good to go.
