Freshly discovered secrets of Article Marketing or HOW to make money online.

Long boring post which you probably won't get anything from.

Subtitled: Why I became a low-cost article writer for two weeks and what I've learned from the experience.

In this forum, the one where we discuss making money (sometimes?), an hour doesn't seem to go by without someone asking about articles, article writers and article marketing. Some, a few, warriors have done very well using articles as part of their marketing strategies.

Let me address those of you that have "failed" at either writing articles or hiring someone to write articles for you. But first, here was the "test" I used, and there is nothing scientific about it, totally ancedotal, so your results will vary (standard wussie disclaimer).
A couple of weeks ago I opened a fiverr account and posted up 8 "jobs", from the very bizzare to the very mundane.

My "test" was; which will be the most clicked on title? What will people look at? I knew they would be coming from one of two places, the WF or my facebook. Since my facebook gets like 3 people a week, I can assume most of the traffic, if not all, came from here.

The WINNER, in the hits department, by more than double, was the "gig" where the headline read;

I will write powerful, sales generating 500-750 word articles embedded with subliminal commands...for $5.

That is what shows up on my "gigs" page, the complete headline reads;

I will write powerful, sales generating 500-750 word articles embedded with subliminal commands and/or a call to further action for your reader to take for $5.

Surely, I knew this would be the WF visitors' fav, right? Right!

So I wanted to find out what Warriors wanted in the way of articles. In a word:

MIRACLES.

Yep. You want an article or series of them to put you on easy street, to give you the auto pilot do nothing 3 hour work week that allows you to lay on the beach sipping cold ones...for 5 bux.

OK. Fair enough. But what I did was to ask for REASONS and PURPOSES of the articles.

Where they would be used? What did you want them to do? What web sites, or products, or programs were you promoting?

Why did you need the articles?

And I was absolutely flabberghasted at the responses because MOST of you thought this questioning was totally irrelevant and unnecessary. OK then.

And here is where YOU can make the money.

There may be untold thousands of Warriors looking for YOU to write articles for them. So if you can write, start writing. You have an unlimited DEMAND for your services. EASY money. Like picking up dollar bills blowing in the street.

Does take some time to write (or dictate) the article and do some research, but, what else you got to do? How about picking the LOW hanging fruit and build off of that?
For those of you that can't write, or English is a second language to you...good Golly Molly (us old farts used to say)...there are scores of writers here and around the world waiting to write for you for a pittance (them's pennies folks).

And most of the people who you can hire won't ever ask you any questions about why and what and where...that sort of annoying marketing type stuff...they just want some articles on ___________ . BINGO, VIOLA and EUREKA all neatly wrapped in their desire.

So there you have it. Wanna make some MONEY, quick and easy? But not very much...but a little bit every day can lead to you being able to afford that really good WSO on "writing articles" for the really big mone?

OK? Writers...WRITE! Article BUYERS...BUY! NOW...TODAY, RIGHT THIS MINUTE. There's gold in them thar words.

gjabiz

PS. Also, something I learned from my two week fiverr experiment, the wacky, kooky and far out niches have devoted followers, maybe much smaller in number, but, apparently, willing and able to part with their 5 bux much quicker without much selling effort. Just some food for thought as you are picking out your niches for your riches, eh?

And keep in mind, the lifetime value of a 5 buck or 7 buck or 14.95 dollar buyer could end
up into the thousands of dollars.

Thanks for your time and attention.

    Thanks, you made me laugh.

I like the way you just had to force me to keep reading with this line:
Long boring post which you probably won't get anything from.
Aah, but for the wonders of the internet. How long would it have taken you to carry out that test in the 'good old days'?

I've also found your observations to be very true. people don't want article writers and copywriters... they want detectives.

And last I heard, they cost a little more than a fiverr.

That's the reason I don't write articles, although they'd be good bread and butter.

If anyone wanted an article from me, with all the research done and a first class article written at the end of it, I'd have to charge at least $50. Maybe more, depending on the subject and how long it takes.

    Why?

Because it would be a darned good article.

      Thanks Rezbi,

Back in the day, we had words to describe some "types" of people...

looky loos, bon-bon eaters, collectors... and fortunes, big and small were made off of these types of people in the old world of remote direct marketing.

In many ways, the "get rich quick" Internet Marketers reflect the get rich quick Mail Order guys that ran full page magazines in Entrepreneur and other Money Making type pubs.

The WSO section reminds me of reading the old "inner circle" pubs, where anyone with a 10 dollar bill could advertise their latest and greatest money making find...and nearly always recoup their investment and then some.

The reality of the old world was; you DID need some bux to start and grow and selling anything via mailorder was NOT as easy as the 'gurus' of their day claimed...it involved a lot of work.

WORK? Werk?!? (in my best Maynard G. Kreps voice)...

But that didn't keep the few from getting much from the many.

Anyhow, I think I'd much rather take ASTRAL flights for 5 bux than write articles for someone who doesn't know why they want them written. "Oh, I want you to write them so I can make a lot of money." HONEST to God answer from one of the people who inquired.

Yea, the Internet speeds up finding answers, it's just the dang questions you need to know to ask.

The problem with this is, there are actually some very good products on there for ridiculously low prices (Kevin Bidwell's last two are a good example).

But, because people are so used to getting rubbish for that price, they miss the real gems when they do appear, again, for the same price.

If I had a dollar for every time a customer has told me that I am the first writer to ask them what they were promoting or what they wanted from the article...well, I wouldn't need to write for customers.

Writers can also learn something from this thread. You have a lot better shot at wowing your customer if you know what they want from the article and you can give it to them.

First of all, GREAT post. Informative and funny. And as for Tina, I have to agree with this. The person that I outsource my articles to, is constantly asking question. Funny enough I have been using her services for quite sometime and she always asks important questions. Maybe what sets the two of you apart is that you are native writers and maybe you underlstand a little more the importance of content and quality. I personally rather pay her prices than pay 5 bucks an article and face having to re-write or correct it myself.

I like your post, but don't really understand why many of your readers thought that your question of Reasons and Purpose of an article was irrelevant. It seems to me that without knowing the reason or purpose of an article it is impossible to write it. The implication is that they don't really care much about the article itself. They only care that they have an article to post on their website, blog or in ezines which points to their website or blog, and voila, they can sit back and reel in the money.

As we all know, there's a fat chance of that happening.

    But hope springs eternal.

    Cheers,

I have had some people react like I am trying to steal their niche or ideas when I try to find out a little more about what they will be using the articles for.

just want to make a point here

when you ask your clients to furnish you with information apart from the keywords the article needed, your clients might likely feels like you dont know what you want to write about.[i dont know how this works for you]

but for me all i want from my clients is just the keyword to whatever article they want[at times i choose the keywords for them] and with that i can churn out as many article as my research materials can produce.

what really matters is my ability to dig out some facts concerning whatever i want to write about.

this has been my secrets and it works well till today!

Ah, filiks, write baby write. You'll have a slew of customers, more than you can handle, very soon, just from your response.

HOW "this" works for me, is, as a ghostwriter, I write what the client wants. So any client I might get that feels like I don't know what to write about, is right, isn't he?

You take the keywords, take their money and may you both live long and prosper.

I hope the sharing of your "secrets" won't cost you much, you know, when ever you share those kind of secrets, someone might think, "hey, feliks is right, i'll write to, and dig out some facts concerning whatever i want to write about"...be careful man. Be very careful.

I guess this is where I "rest my case"?

To jinnypitts, YOU have the right answer to the whole thing, find someone who delivers what you want and pay their price. And a 5 buck an article writer probably is going to be more work than he's worth.

Anyhow, there is money to be made writing in the streets of the Internet, they are paved with fools gold, and today, that passes for currency.

IF you have a good writer, PAY what they ask, please?
