Is the IM business collapsing? The hypocrasy is showing...

I have not seen so many threads telling newbies that making money online takes time, money, patience, blood, sweat, and tears. Yet I look in the WSO and sigs and I see promises of wicked riches in 24hrs.

What gives? Is the blood, sweat, and tears that is right? Or is it the promise of money over night?

Making money online is simple, but it's not easy. There is a big difference. Simple means everyone can do it, but easy means everyone will do it. When everyone does something, the reward for doing it quickly disappears. So, be thankful that success is not easy .

It's only hypocrisy if the same people are saying both things. Otherwise, it's called differences of opinion.

Words have meanings. My Mom always told me not to use them if I didn't know what they meant.

It also helps if you can spell them correctly. lol.

If you want to make serious money long term you're going to have put in some serious effort.

        That's simple common sense.

You can try to kid yourself that the world doesn't work that way if you want to but the world has a way of educating you if you ignore simple facts.

IM is internet marketing, tons and tons of businesses use the internet to market their business/services. It does take lots of blood and sweat to make it work, just like a normal business.

Overnight riches and those kind of promises, are usually for those that sell the product. There is no easy way or a push button system, that will make money fly your way.

Making money online is easy. The simplest way to sell something
is to sell it for less money, or on easier terms than people are
used to. Whether discounting is the business you want to be in
or profitable or smart in the long run is a different matter.

      Easy-peasy money

      1. Get something lots of people would like to own, like a nice guitar.
      2. List it on Craiglist at a bargain price.
      3. Sell it for cash.

      Or do Ebay:

      1. Get something lots of people would like to own, like a guitar.
      2. List it on Ebay at a bargain price.
      3. Sell it and ship it.

Making money online selling PDF documents that have little intrinsic,
tangible value, just the perceived value of the information, is not
as easy. This perception is created from the clay of human
      yearning and focused through salesmanship.

Almost everybody here is working with info-products. These are super
high-profit, and the costs to get started are insanely low. That's why
there's lots of competition. Lots of dudes who want to kick back
and drink martinis and make money sending emails like:

      "hey, dude.

You know I'm cool and if I tell you to buy something it's because
it will make you cool too.

So buy this dingus my buddy is selling.

      Peace."

Sound like a cool way to get your green?

Yeah. Lots of dudes agree. Thus the competition.

I never found it easy. But when someone was able to explain the big picture to me first and then how the techniques fit in underneath the big picture, it was a little easier for me to choose how to go about getting the traffic to help me make the money.

    A bit of both.

There's a lot of blood, sweat, and tears.

And every night, you look at your sales for the day, and there's a big fat zero.

And then one morning, you wake up and find a commission notification in your email.

In fact, the way it usually works is you wake up and find a whole bunch of them. Because you're out there beating your head against a wall, and you hit just the right part that cracked it wide open. You sent an email, or ran an ad, or made a blog post, or wrote a sales page... that made people buy.

And if you're lucky, you can figure out how you did it, and you can do it again... but more often, you're back to blood, sweat, and tears.

And then you hit the right combination again, and you get a bunch of sales. And it doesn't take as long the second time. Or the third. Or the fourth. And in the end, you just get this constant stream of commission emails, until you forget what it was like with the blood, sweat, and tears.

Like most businesses, IM feeds on itself. Each time you have a success, it makes the next success easier. Eventually, you have nothing but success, and you forget what failure is like.

And then you'll start coming into forums like this, to post rants about how "newbies are so stupid and won't even do the simplest things that would make any idiot money." Because you don't remember all the blood, sweat, and tears anymore. You start to honestly believe it didn't happen to you.

Oddly enough, I see more than my fair share of "YOU NEED TO FOCUS. YOU NEED TO WORK HARD" threads here in this very part of the forum. These people are right. The posts actually annoy me, reading over and over again, because it should be common knowledge. It's obviously not, look at the "How can I QUICKLY turn $500 into $5,000 a week?!" threads.

The people who sell those things like "Get rich in 24 minutes or less!" are because there is a market of people out there that Want and almost NEED to buy that stuff. Do they think they can get rich in 24 minutes? I don't know, I never buy those products, so I wouldn't know. I also wouldn't know because I don't sell those products. The people who buy these products are opportunists. Because getting rich quick, sounds like an oppurtinity that they need to take advantage of, and not a plan or blueprint of action. The people who buy this stuff aren't really interested in a plan of action, they don't want to be told that "Just so you know, if you work hard and focus for 80 hours straight on this, you might make about $10 a week" - wheres the hope of riches in that? That's what those people are looking to buy, thrill and hope.

Does it realllllly work like that? Of course not.

I think it's getting to the stage where all the people pointing out to newbies that they have to work hard are pushing the point so much that they will frighten their possible customers right off the computer for ever! I've seen some posts that are virtually ranting at the newbies - no one deserves to be addressed like that. Come on guys, in your own interest try and put the message across in a more encouraging way - and don't get me wrong, plenty do that, but can you rant and ravers tune it down a bit!!

Yes, overnight money is possible and easy but it usually takes a lot of blood, sweat and tears to achieve. One of the problems is that there are so many different ways of making money online that this leads to procrastination, wasted time and effort. The newbie is bombarded with guru (and not so guru) offers that he or she almost goes crazy.
They will then either eventually give up or find what works. There is a high failure rate but I suspect in percentage terms no more than in the offline business world. The cost of failure in the latter is of course usually much higher.
    All the best,

    Both.

I can grab a WSO and use that knowledge with my previous knowledge to hit a bang in 2 hours.

Same time it can take me 2 months to learn a new system and make money out of it. I'll need to sweat, cry and have patience.

that about sums many W.S.O.'s up. "Make $1,000 per day" (what they don't tell you is it is by selling the W.S.O. they are actually doing this...)

Overnight riches and those kind of promises, are usually for those that sell the product. There is no easy way or a push button system, that will make money fly your way.
If I send a message out to my list with a new product and take in $10,000 worth of orders it's actually very deceptive of me to then create a W.S.O. saying "here's how you make $10,000+ from one e-mail..see here's my proof etc." The facts are it wasn't $10,000 overnight (well it was but you get my point) the list was created and nurtured over a few years and at some additional costs.Sementics....ethics?

    Nice thread,

I have been experiencing the blood, sweat, tears and the ups and downs of IM. I been working at it for almost a year, thought I had cracked it in DEC where I had a $2k month then JAN I had a $1.6k month.

But the next month my sales started to decline now I am down to $500 a month, its a horrible feeling thinking you have made it then boom starts to fall apart. Guess its the nature of business.

    BUT...

Literally overnight I just made over $7000 in gross sales, bringing me $3500 in commission. I made this by taking part in a launch and emailing my list so happy days...
and of course it took me months and months to build my list to be able to do this.

BUT I still have not cracked it I know I could easily go back down to zero again in a few months, and I know some people will refund some of my sales..

So I just keep working at it and I will find the rigjht combination, and I will become a success one day soon.

like someone said making money online is simple but its not easy..

    Good luck everyone

    All the best

        Hi all,

I've recently went into making money online niche and I found out something that can classified newbies or wanna-be who "want to get rich overnight".

Because they see it as an easy way out and they "think" that money is easy to be made online all because of some articles or interview in the local newspaper. They jump into it without knowing hard work, tears and sweat are part of it and thinking they can earn some extra income within a month.

So, most of them who jump in has no prior marketing or business knowledge, so to speak. Therefore, when they see headlines like you can earn $X amount within X number of days, they are very interested.

That is why, these are also the easiest prey that IM can sell them stuff.

Only, when you had pay your dues, do you stuff, only then you will be rewarded.

It is both as its all relative to what an individual determines is SIMPLE and FAST

One person might think taking a year to make large sums of money a long time
While another may see it as part of the course and they expected it

Depends on a persons expectations and what the hell they are offering online.

I would say to anyone who told me that making money online was "easy or simple" that I would like to know what I'm doing wrong then. And in no way am I complaining, but "simple" is like plugging in something into a power outlet. "Easy" is having to not climb over the couch to do so.

How does this relate to IM? I would say this is not easy nor is it simple. I've started two websites within the last month (I'm learning, more are on the way once I get my method perfected) and most weekend days I spend about 10 hours behind my computer working on my sites, building backlinks, writing new content, etc.

During the week I'm off at 5pm and start working on my business from 6pm till about midnight or 1am. And sure I could outsource some of my work, but I want to get juiced in so that I understand the business I am creating -- all of the articles are written by me and I know exactly where all of my backlinks are (I do outsource this in addition to building my own).

To say that anything I have done is simple or easy would be a huge understatement. I have friends who ask what I'm doing and when I show them they just don't understand how this connects with that. I myself spent 6 months of intense research on figuring out a way to make money online, and without this knowledge I would be making a lot bigger mistakes than I already have.

Sorry for my big post, but as a lot of my posts on this board have indicated, if you are a newbie like myself please for the sake of your sanity understand we are building businesses here and it takes time. If it was really that "easy and simple" everyone in America would be starting their own internet company...

It takes time. Everyone out there had to build a list, write articles, create back links, etc. That is unless you have a truckload of money and can advertise like a mad man. I fell for the get rich quick schemes myself. Most of the email offers I get are for the same rehashed information, just under a different product name. I agree with Rick, making money online IS simple (i say easy...but that is just semantics, easy=simple to me)

People make it difficult. Sure, it takes time to learn, but it's basically this:

    1. Find a market,
    2. Find what they want.
    3. Give it to them.

Getting traffic is straight forward. Converting is the hard part; but if you test your message - that can be simple too.

People get hung up on too much - gotta have massive traffic (if your message is in line with your audience, you only need a trickle of traffic), don't know enough to try, product making takes to much work, perfectionism, etc.

Focus on the basics, and do it over and over again. Not hard.

Yes, it takes some time to learn, but once learned, it ISN'T hard at all.

    Rob
