Is it necessary i ping my word press blog after making a post?

Just being curious here, i have been adding content to my word press blog for quite sometime now. I need to know if it's necessary i ping the blog at the end of every post?

Of what relevance is it?

    nope, wordpress should be taking care of the pinging for you automatically.

    You can add additional sites for wordpress to ping in the admin but I've never had any issues with the default wordpress ping settings.

      wordpress will do it for you automatically.

      step by step:

      1) go to your wordpress admin control panel
      2) under Settings, click Writing
      3) type your ping URL under Update Service (Ping List)
