Asleep For Three Years! Interesting Perspective On Time...

Warriors, believe it or not, we humans sleep for about 3 years out of every 10 years that we're alive!

There are 168 hours in a week. If you sleep 8 hours a night (like I do) you would sleep for about 56 hours every week, leaving you 112 hours a week to do what you need to do.

There are other things you must do everyday that takes time away from your 112 hours though such as: going to the bathroom, showering, brushing your teeth, eating breakfast, lunch and dinner, etc.

So let's say all of this stuff adds up to about 2.5 hours a day, that would be 17.5 hours a week which would leave you with about 94.5 hours a week to take care of business and have a personal life.

94.5 hours a week is 13.5 hours a day. Are you happy with how you spend your 13.5 hours a day? How many hours do you devote to your business and to your personal life out of these 13.5 hours that you have left over?

Could adding an extra hour or two a day to your business increase the amount of money that you make? I think it could. I would love to hear what you think...

I am currently listening to "The 4-hour workweek: escape 9-5, live anywhere, and join the new rich" audiobook by Timothy Ferriss. I think somebody on this forum recommended it. I can't really say that it's a great book but it has some nice points. For instance, I agree that it's the quality of your life that counts more than money. Always leave time to enjoy your life, you won't be able to rewind and play it again. Spend as much time on your business as needed to make you happy. It's how smart you work, not how much time you spend. Some people think that if you run your own business you should work crazy hours to succeed. Wrong - if you have to sacrifice the quality of your life to succeed, than you are doing it wrong. Think how you can improve your productivity, in most of cases the bottleneck is yourself. Re-think your model to make it more scalable, outsource, and delegate.

Excellent point, however, in order to ADD additional income streams to your already existing revenue, you would need to invest a little bit of time here and there to either learn how to do it or to actually implement it and set it up.

If you spent your time trying to figure out all the things you can cram into the same amount of time you already spend on other things, you'll end up having a giant cluster**** of things to accomplish in a restricted amount of time...

I think devoting a little extra time here and there to your business can most definitely add to ones income. Although I DO agree with you that increasing productivity is very important.

        Thanks for your insightful response.

        Best,
        Shane

Couldn't we just outsource all that stuff?

That's hilarious. I heard of a good company that will go to the bathroom for you for just $0.30 for #1 and $0.45 for #2. However, I'm not sure I would trust someone overseas to do that kind of work for me...

Of course you don't... You use the extra time drinking Ouzo and partying like it's 1999, but not everyone gets to be as cool as BIG Mike!

I'm not getting your math. If you sleep 8 hours a day that's 8 hours asleep, 16 awake in a day. That's 8/24 which is 1/3. That would be one year asleep for every three we are alive, or 3.3 years for every 10 years.

    Otherwise, carry on.

You are correct! I meant to put 3 years and I put 2, silly me! All of my other math is correct I can assure you.

Thanks, now I had to change the thread title and all... But that further proves my point! Being asleep 3 years out of 10 is even scarier!

lol good point if you want success you have to work for it even if it means less sleep. I am on that boat I do whatever it takes but some people would not even consider making that kind of sacrifice.

Sacrifice now for more sleep later think an autopilot run home based business!

    I'm already doing that.

I bought all of those products that promised "make money while you sleep".

Now if they would just come and read me a bedtime story about big yachts and mansions on the hill by the beach...
