Is there a tool or service that even comes close to doing this?

  • Well, I know this is not the total answer you;re looking for, but I use SEOQUAKE to look at stats like external backlinks. Then I check the page rank and other authority of those sites where the backlinks came from. This can be a great help in seeing why organic traffic is coming there. ...and tells me where I need to go to get same.

As far as paid traffic, I don't know. I'm not knowledgeable in that area.

  • Yeah, cool tools which I am kinda familiar with, but the problem is they focus on google rankings and google's adwords...

...which kinda helps a little I suppose, but nowhere near a complete picture these days.

  • You can reverse engineer most SEO... However, it's important to realize you won't see direct visitors. Things like: URLs being mentioned in videos on YouTube and other video sites, e-mail links from affiliates, and I don't think it's possible to track most ad traffic (could be wrong though).
  • I'll tell you what I got an email about about a free piece of software that does exactly this I believe a couple of days ago. I'll dig it out for you. I think it meets your requirements from memory
  • Try typing into google "the rank decoding engine" if it doesn't give you the free one then pm me and I'll give you the link from the email

  • Whatever tools you use - don't think you have the whole picture. Many successful businesses are grown due to relationships which you cannot see.

    • I just don't get what that rank decoding engine is supposed to help me with. I've tried posting on michelle's blog for clarification but my comments just get deleted as I suppose they're a bit critical of the software, but all it seems to do for me is come up with some domains that are ranking well for my keywords. It doesn't give me any useful information that I can use to improve my sites.
