Hey Guys,

I'm in Australia and it seems that the guidelines for registering a .ca are quite strict. Can someone please give me some guidance on their policies?

Thanks guys,
Dale

And why are you so surprized? I can't register au domains either...

To be eligible for a com.au or net.au domain name, registrants must be:
    - an Australian registered company; or
    - trading under a registered business name in any Australian State or Territory; or
    - an Australian partnership or sole trader; or
    - a foreign company licensed to trade in Australia; or
    - an owner of an Australian Registered Trade Mark; or
    - an applicant for an Australian Registered Trade Mark 1 ; or
    - an association incorporated in any Australian State or Territory; or
    - an Australian commercial statutory body.

Yeah, I know but I figured since I can register .com .co.uk co.nz that I should be able to register .ca :-)

    Thanks anyway,
    Dale

Dale: Cira is the Canadian Internet Registration Authority.

You can access the site at: CIRA - Canadian Internet Registration Authority - Home or CIRA - Canadian Internet Registration Authority | ACEI - l'Autorit canadienne pour les enregistrements Internet where you are give the choice of viewing the website in English and French.

You will find all the information you need on this site.

    Here's a link to the 'Requirements' - http://cira.ca/faq-canadian-presence-requirements/

For what it's worth, goDaddy now offers .ca registrations but the registered domain is still under the CIRA rules and regs.

I see I can easily register a .ca using my enom account. The problems even if you register a .ca or .co.uk and you not a resident or have a business it is illegal and if they find out you they will take the domain away
