Make Sure Your Site Has This Page

Hi Warriors!

I run an IM blog where I frequently review products, etc. But one thing I never did was have a specific recommendation PAGE with everything I felt people might need on it.

I had several people ask me if such a page existed on my site, but I stupidly replied, "No, what is it you need and I'll see if I can help?"

Finally I woke up and sat down and made the page. For some reason I kept thinking people would just use the search function on my blog to find what they needed. But then they might get a results page with 12 blog posts relevant to that keyword phrase they put in. (clickout!)

With a resources/recommendations page, they don't have to search. And what's cool is if you have people who become loyal to you and trust you, then whenever they are about to start something, or have a need, they might check your page first.

And it's not just IM. Let's say you run a cooking site on Cajun Cooking. Well you can STILL have a recommendation page for other cooking related stuff. You could have recommendations for formal dinner party guides, cookware, etc. Just because my "specialties" might be info product creation and PLR, that doesn't mean I can't tell people who *I* turn to whenever I want to learn how to build a membership site, for instance. And if they know who *I* trust, they might feel comfortable trusting that person, too.

Anyway, it's one of those common sense tasks that I always ignored things. I'm glad I finally got my butt in gear and made one. You should, too

    So - on your recommendations page - you ONLY recommend products that you have actually purchased and tried? Or do you load it with affiliate links? Just curious...

      Everything on there is only stuff I've personally bought and used myself but they are affiliate links - unless they don't need one, like free tools, etc. Even sometimes if I have a paid recommendation like an aff link to Camtasia, I also tell them about a free version - CamStudio.

      I've thought about this and I have a question:

      Do all storekeepers, whether it's food, clothes or anything else, try everything they sell?

      I mean, if not, then surely they shouldn't be selling them. What if the customer buys a tin of sardines and decides they do he she doesn't like the taste?

      It's one thing to sell complete junk, but if you know, or have an idea that a certain product may be good, what's the harm in selling it?

      Let's face it, it's easier to return a clickbank product than it is to return stuff you buy in the supermarket.

        I wouldn't mind going to a site and someone - let's say here even - Allen Says - has a page where he knows of products. Maybe he respects the people behind them but hasn't tried them himself - that's fine with me personally.

        For me, if I knew of a product people raved about (let's say PPC) and I hadn't tried it, I might be honest and just say, "I haven't tried this yet, but if you need a PPC guide, I've heard lots of good feedback on this..."

        Nothing wrong with that

        Disagree because you are recommending the product not simply selling it. Big difference there in my opinion.

    Yes, I have one also on one of my sites. I include lots of free alternatives as well. I'm not sure that I should, but I do require an opt in to get the link.

    My recommendation page is the second most looked at page on my site.

    Now I have started putting a recommends page in pdf format as a bonus in every product I sell or giveaway.

    I include affiliate products, tools, and free products. I usually only recommend products I have used. The exception to that rule, are the PC products I have seen used on Webinars.

      Hi Tiffany,

      What a great idea! I kind off feel like you. I really need to explore or use the product if I want to promote it. This may be a little time consuming but I have to do it.

      I checked your page on your blog and believe it or not I even found a few tools I heard of and ones I wanted to use. I'll be busy for a few days but after that I would like to pm you if is OK with you about some of those products.

      BTW how did it go with one week marketing?
