How does this guy get so many article views?

I'm somewhat of a newbie, but I'll ask this possibly ignorant question anyway.

I was browsing some authors on ezinearticles and came across this guy. He only has 17 articles under this pen name, but check out the views he gets in the IM/Home based business categories:

Max Lauplin - EzineArticles.com Expert Author Bio

Is that common? 17 articles and 60,000 views... for his newest articles especially he's got absolutely a killer number of views.

I have 120 articles in an evergreen niche and the best I've got is about 1500 views and I was ecstatic. What's this guy's secret?

Some people pay for others to view their article. I can't remember exactly how it's done, but you can pay a certain amount of money to get lots of people to come view your article. It's against the EZA Terms and conditions but many people apparently do it.

No it's definitely not common. Maybe it's because he does good keyword research
and ranks first on google's first page for those keywords with his articles.

He could have been backlinking to them like crazy, I've not checked MS but it's possible.

He could have been buying views, easily done.

If hes' buying views , he then hits "most viewed" which generates even more views.

    etc.

That just gave me the most AWESOME idea that if you're putting together a course that you should have articles are part of the curriculum and content. A hyperlink from a PDF file distributed from a course would constitute a hit each time someone took the course, and multiple hits if the content on the article was referenced as part of a test.

      Thanks!

Interesting point, if you have backlinks in a pdf that you distribute for free do they actual count as backlinks if they are not posted to a website?

If I had that many people taking a course I probably wouldn't worry too much about getting views to my article. I'd be focusing on the people I already had the attention of.

Even better, if that part of the course was general enough that the information was useful to others such that it became viral. In the author box, you could put a link to the course, and others would just spread the info because it was useful, which would in turn generate more traffic to your sales/squeeze page.

BTW, I'll be using this strategy in a future WSO I'm writing on article marketing.

Lets do a very quick reverse engineer on one of his articles for a moment.. say his article called:

"How to Make Money Right Now Even If You Are Unemployed"

Which comes up in the top 2 - 3 spots (at current time of searching) for the term "Make Money Right Now" make money right now - Google Search= (no quotes were used when searching)

According to the Google Keywords Tool the global monthly search volume is currently over 4,000 a month.

The article was published over a year ago (4th March 2009).

That's the kind of traffic just one of his articles is receiving, so imagine on his others must be getting.

    Mystery solved.

I say kudos to this guy for a job well done.

Dare I say It? Have any of you considered the "T" Factor. If you have a large enough following a few well placed tweets daily will get you many looks.

      It's a thought.

Impressive. He did this quite well. However his landing page conversions are questionable - that much traffic and only 7 readers on RSS.

      TechSmith | Screencast.com, online video sharing, 2010-04-21_1645

He should have a better bribe and opt in to manage a list on this page.

There are so many different ways of manipulating views that I don't even really look anymore. I always wondered why questionable articles got so many views. Then I found out they were manipulating the system.

Then again, anything is possible. I never thought I would have articles that received 1,000s of views per month just from seo traffic.

If you backlink the crap out of your articles with different anchor text...your articles can appear for various LSI keyword terms within your article. typically an article only ranks high for its targeted keyword or one word more derivative of it. However backlinking your articles with varying anchor text can bring excellent traffic to it.

Good work on something will always build results. I did SEO on one of my productive GoArticles that I had written in mid-May 2009. I have had almost 24,000 views on that article alone, and it has also brought me in a few thousands of cash as you can expect. And that is on a physical product.

The game is that, no matter what, you need to attract the highest quantity of highest-quality visitors. What is the type of visitors that make it high-quality depends strongly upon your niche. What do you think - if I had written an article on how to get high article views, would the quantity of views not be a great certification of what I am doing is being done well? On the other hand, if I was selling cakes over my article, does a high number of view mean much? Probably no.

I would not worry about the views of each and every article. I would optimize such that the article converts and then would try to pull in laser-targeted visitors even if that meant a lesser number.

        Paid To Click

The user gets paid like $0.5/hr to sit there clicking link after link. If you search google for it you will see on the PTC sites links to ezine articles.

For like $100 you could stay top of a competitive category for 3 months. If you have an article that converts that could make a nice ROI.

Search in google for the link to his article in quotes. Chances are it will actually bring up some PTC sites.

I would say 90% of people at top of catgories are using fake traffic of some sort on EZA.

EDIT: I checked his profile, I thought you meant he has 17 articles each with 60k views. There are lots of simple ways to generate a few thousand hits per article. Gets tricky in higher numbers though. Some people seem to be able to get 20k+ hits within a week of launching their article and not get banned. Would love to know exactly how they do it.

I know one tip to increase article views is try to get your article being published on Friday, since Ezinearticles approve articles by human, so they ought to take holidays in the weekend, so your article might have a better chance to stay longer for visitors to view before other similar articles being published. I tried this little tip, and it did get more views sometimes (not always, can't guaranteed), but not as that much as this guy.

There are literally thousands of backlinks to his the recession is a joke article alone.
I don't know how he did that, but that's the answer. Go to any backlink checker and paste in the URL to the article and you'll see what I mean.

      Two possible ways:

      1. submit to blog network. Each time link is posted a pingback increases the count by 1
      2. comment spam, this also creates a lot of pingbacks and clicks
