Let's take a step back a moment ...

I've been putting a LOAD of work into authority sites and it's starting to pay off slowly. But to be honest it's a massive amount of work for not a great reward.

So i'm going to start the process of looking for 'niche' sites. But if i'm honest there is sooo much advice I am stuck as to where to start.

How do you find a niche that is worth going at?

Go to Google Keywords tool and type in something like.. "how to ... "

How to niches are really easy to make money from. Find something that you like the look of, then check the amount of monthly searches. If it's over 1000 monthly searches, it could be worth doing.

Now check how many pages are indexed in Google for that search term.. anything with less than a million pages will be very easy to beat.

You can refine it further by using exact vs broad searches and using quotes when checking how many pages exist for the search term.

Anyway, next go to clickbank and make sure others are selling in the niche.

If they are, there's money in it.

    There ya go..

Here is a quick search I use for finding niches:

site:ezinearticles.com "How To" "Article Submitted On: * 2010" "This article has been viewed 1000..99999999 time(s)"

You can modify this for many article directories using Google's advanced search modifiers and it works very well for Youtube as well.

You can swap "How to" with "tips", "Secrets" etc... this will show you a ton of very hot niches that have people actively interested in the niche.

    All the best

    Sean

Pick the highest paying niches and dive straight in to finding keywords.

Write your content, build the site then monetize - Hey presto.

I found a good way of doing this and to get earning quicker is to get subscribers from web wide advertising then send them to the site you made over and over again via an autoresponder.

And yes authority sites do take a lot of hard work. In fact they take more than that. They take a team of dedicated people to make them work which either means hiring dedicated people or finding dedicated people to join up with you. That's how Darren Rowse shot to fame. He teamed up with other people who wanted to succeed with blogging just as much as he did and he did it.
