New Travel and Booze Site - Need Your Feedback

Hi Warriors,

Just got back from a SWEET 1 year trip to Asia with my wife, and decided to roll out my site dedicated to travel and drinking.

But I need your help.

Please provide any feedback on this site, especially related to:

content you would like to see on there
the design of the site itself
monetization methods (not adsense, it's against TOS)
and anything else you feel like!

So here is the site: layoversandhangovers.com

Thanks Warriors, I look forward to your input!

Best,

Coz

Google Anthony Bourdaine... I believe he's got something VERY similar to that and it's wildly successful. He's even got his own TV show.

True indeed... I'm a huge fan of Bourdain (read all his books, watched his tv shows, etc.).

It's also a similar approach to the show "Three Sheets" but will be more focused on writing, rather than video.

I think, given some of the already competitive US markets on the alcohol side, focusing on lesser known brands and types is a good bet. For example, if you had a complete page on Absinthe it would likely be a big hit and should leave plenty of room to explain not only the history of the drink itself, but how current political conditions in the USA affect the drink.

Solid advice. Absinthe is definitely underserved, and I'll be sure to add some pages on that.

How do you guys feel about travel essays on different countries (rather than just the alcohol behind them)?

Enjoyed that all by itself. Has to be a winner. Don't even worry about if it will make money, just go where your idealism and passion will take you.

Of course it opens up a lot of possibilities. Articles on the biggest or best lounge or bar in any city. Maybe a paid advertising mention? Try it in your home town first?

I'm a brew your own type of guy myself, so won't even visit accidentally. That's a pretty sure promise.

I probably have put away enough alcohol to kill most people, but tapered off a bit this morning. (maybe you can tell from most of my forum posting) Maybe there should be a forum sticky, 'don't drink and post.'

Have done a lot of traveling but don't really like it, and don't do it unless I have to. Won't comment on that part.

Sounds great, I'm a huge fan of No Reservations.

But wouldn't you be better served polling people in a travel-related or partying sort of community forum?

Seems like you're sort of missing the market here.

I love the name and concept. The site itself looks a little "plain" though. Liven it up, add some pictures or something. It should look more like the "party" instead of the "hangover".
