LOL....

Here I am at 700 some posts (more than some, less than many)....I visit this forum every day, several times a day, and I didn't notice that newsletter box until a few days ago....even then, it still took me some time to sign-up for it....

....boy....maybe they should consider changing a few colors, especially if they intend on/are using it to send out a newsletter or updates of any sort? Perhaps an orange or yellow "subscribe now" button might be better? lol

  I subscribed to the WF newsletter under the old forum, and again under the new forum ... and have yet to ever receive a newsletter.
  
  Not sure why the design of the form needs to be changed - it is very clear on what it is ... my eyes stray to it nearly every time I'm here. *shrugs*

I know the box is there because I always mistake it for the search box! I've never actually signed up though.

IMHO, He doesn't really need it anymore.

He can setup a forced message upon login at the WF and he can blast PM's to us. All without worrying about getting flagged as "spam" by the major email providers.

NO NO NO! But in Allen's unique case, he doesn't need one since the WF is so addictive and delivering PM's and Mass Alerts is ideal. It doesn't get better than capturing a visitors attention immediately upon entering a site with a targetted Alert or PM. You can't mimic that kind of "attention grab" with email.

Everyone else SHOULD use newsletters and collect emails. Unless you happen to own a forum as powerful as the WF.

Disclaimer...I'm not Allen nor do I know what he thinks. I only remember him writing about this specific topic in one of his ebooks (or a post). Made perfect sense, too.

To the best of my knowledge, there have been one or two, no more - those were from a time very shortly after the forum was migrated from the old software to the new software a few years back.

It probably makes more sense to use the mass PM facility for recommendations and announcements though, for reasons mentioned above.

I think the last newsletter I received from WF
was about 5 years ago... as others have said,
Allen has more effective ways of communicating
with us via the forum. The great thing is he
doesn't abuse the power. Many marketers could
take a lesson from that.

This is actually very commendable.

Had many other marketers had the email list he probably has as a result of WF, I'm sure they would have definitely been tempted to use it extensively....with questionable motives.
