When you sell a site, how do you...

...deal with stuff like Google Analytics, Webmaster Tools or other things you installed using your own account? For instance, on a WordPress blog I'm going to sell, I used my own WordPress.com API key to activate Akismet. When someone buys the site, do you strip out stuff like that and then they have to reinstall those things using their own accounts?

I've never sold a site before so I'm unclear on how specifics like that work. Thanks for any tips you can give me!

Yes, for Askimet you will have to disable it on your blog and the new owner will re-activated with their own info. Same with Analytics...just deactivate it and remove it from your Analytics Dashboard.

Basically, if there's anything on your site that you have inputted info into to activate it, you want to remove your info and explain to the new owner what to do in order to use the plugin/script/etc.

    Hope this helps

Okay, that's kind of what I was thinking. Obviously, the same will apply if I have affiliate products or AdSense on it - do you have any ideas on how the buyer could put the same products back on the site? Or should I just remove my affiliate ID from each link but leave the products there?

For the Ads and Adsense on the site, don't remove it. As a good measure of customer service for the buyer, you could offer to replace the codes with theirs instead.
