A bit of reality for IM newbies
If you are new to internet marketing and you believe that
you can simply jump in, quickly put together your product and
start making money FAST like a maniac, I must disappoint you.
It's not gonna happen!
Why?
Because making money by selling your own product is a backwards
process.
The problem with building a serious business based on your own
products is that you cannot make money fast, starting from zero.
There must be a period of time when you don't make any money
at all, before you can start making money.
That's because of the nature of the correct process of business
building. It is a backwards process, in the sence that making
money comes last on the timeline.
First you need to do market and keyword research and decide
what product you are going to create, based on your
research. That is the critical step and it can take long time
before you know what product will sell. But without research
you would be gambling your time, effort and money.
Second, you need to create at least 1 main product.
Creating your product takes months and it's completely
offline job. You make no money, you even spend money if
you are outsourcing some parts (which is more than likely
you will be doing). This is the most important phase and you
must create a hot product that is of high quality, including
the complete website and all the marketing materials ( banners,
promo emails, ppc ads, signatures, text links etc etc)
Then you need to create your affiliate program, either using
a stand-alone application or clickbank, pdc or any other system.
When you are done with that, or along with that, you can
set up your help desk application and your personal blog.
Your blog and helpdesk will make you look more professional
and you will use them later to maintain solid prospect and
customer relationships. You can post some really good
posts on your blog and build some backlinks but you
will not do any heavy promotion yet.
After that you must continue with creation of your free
stuff. You need to create 2-3 free reports and complete
squeeze systems for them and set up everything.
Your free reports must be so good that you could actually
sell them for $27-$37 each, but you will give them away
in exchange for email addresses.
Then you need to create 7-10 autoresponder emails that
promote your main product and setup/test everything in your
aweber account. Everything must work like clockwork.
Then you setup and test the website that sells your main
product, upload all product files and setup payment/delivery
system. You also need to tie together your product site and
your squeeze pages.
Then you also need to create blog posts/pages from which
you are sending people to your squeeze pages.
Now you can start blogging more intensivelly about your subject
and running a heavy promotion of your blog and your squeeze
pages. Now you have everything ready for building your list,
taking orders and collecting affiliates.
There is just one more thing left for you to do:
building links, generating traffic, promoting, promoting, promoting.
Now it's the MONEY TIME!
