How do I find out the keywords other sites rank for?

Hello -

I would like to start a site that will be going up against some stiff competition. How do I find out what keywords the others sites are ranking for so I can dig deeper into niches to find good keywords?

    Hey bud,

    Go to Google and put in the keyword you are trying to rank for. Once you see the results come up (the websites) click on the first one.

    Once the page comes up, just right-click on the page then go down to "view page source," this will show you the html for the site.

    Look for the work keyword (which is usually at the top) and see what keywords they are using. Then you can use those same keywords as you know those people are ranking high.

    Seems to me that you are going about this all wrong. If you want to find out what they are ranking for, then Jon told you the way to do that. But why do you care what they are ranking for. Why don't you find the keywords, for the niche you are targeting, that have low competition and go after those words? It doesn't matter what you co competition is going after. You want to find out what you can rank for, and go after those words.

    Once you get ranked and established, you can go after more and more words. Eventually you may be able to beat out your competition. You might even be able to make as much or more money than them without ever going after their keywords. Depending on the niche, there may be enough words for you to go after that you can avoid the keywords they target, and still end up with more traffic and revenue than them.

    I don't know, it is just a thought.
