New Warrior...and need honest help desparately please!

Hi Warriors, my brother told me to come here for some hard hitting advice about making money online.

My situation is quite different in that I don't really have much skill on the internt. I am very enthusiastic and can be technical minded. I was thinking more along the lines of virtual assistant.

I have some passions and will definitely be going into something fitness related down the line. Right now, though, I need a quick start. I'm stuggling to even live.

I don't expect much in the beginning, rather I'm looking for experience and referrals.

Any ideas or advice please?

Thanks,
Liam.

I had a few ideas, however, I am a bit hesitant to begin giving recommendations especially with your comment about 'struggling to live'. Alot of what many here know, and have learned, have come from nothing short of great deal of trial and error. Quite honestly, I don't want to point you on a path that may or may not work for you (most 'paths' are like that)

I'll be interested to see what others have to say.

Welcome! You can find a lot of good information here, but you have to do your own testing to see what works for YOU.

    Here's my suggestion:

-> Start building a list in the niche you want to pursue. Create a useful free report (doesn't matter how long it is, just make it useful) and use it to entice people to subscribe to your list.

-> Promote the page (called a "squeeze page") that is going to be asking for your visitor's name and email address in exchange for your free report. You can promote by posting useful responses in relevant forums/blogs, article marketing, and guest blogging.

-> From there, send your list high quality information on a regular basis with the occasional promotion. I personally follow a six day schedule. Every six days, I send either an article or other free resource to my list. Every third mailer, I send a promotion or a product review. It works great for me.

If you need me to clarify anything up there (I know it's very general) just post a reply!

    Hope that helps!

It takes a lot of work to be successful in internet marketing. If you are destitute, do not attempt to start on the internet, get a job IRL or create a service you can sell to your neighbors.

You will be on here and sold so many different "info products" itll make your head spin, don't buy anything just read everything you can.

    I like: www.cashtactics.net

Go there and read the beginner guides.

I'm going to say that if I were "struggling to live" the last place that I would look for help to get out of that spot was online! And that's not because you can't make money online, but because it CAN take a good deal of time and you CAN end up spinning your wheels and going for the wrong options.

I personally would start off line and get some work there. Even if it's part time flipping burgers! And then I'd spend all my spare time learning about what I need to make a business work online.

The fact is that there are a few focused and talented souls who hit the ground running in IM, the rest of us drag ourselves along until we find out what works for us.

      Good luck anyway!

    Liam.
You certainly can do it. It may not be easy, but you really can. You made it to this forum and made a post. If you can do that, then you can do a lot more.

There are people wanting help getting their forums started. They need people to keep the conversations going and will probably pay per post. Not a lot of money there, but its a start and experience. Search this forum for those.

Some need help with their Help Desk in answer questions and taking care of the customers. Can you do that? I'm sure you could.

People need help posting ads on Craigslist and other places.

Some need help submitting articles to directories, getting backlinks, etc. etc. There is a lot that you can do.

Learning the technical is not the challenge. The challenge is to get a great reputation as someone that does the work, goes the extra mile, can be trusted, and always follows through. I would rather have someone with those qualities with no experience than a tech wiz that I can't trust to get it done.

Thanks Scott, that's an extremely helpful reply.

I guess for now I will focus more along the lines of virtual assistant work, but first I need to get some experience where I have none.

Does anyone have any idea what is the most in demand virtual assistant work? Like maintaining spreadsheets or customer services etc.

Thanks again for the help! Really appreciate it.

    Hi Liam,
I know, you are lost and frustrated, I was exactly there myself and started from scratch about 7 months ago. It has been a tough road and I am now just starting to build a little momentum, don't give up.

This is something that you will be doing part-time, after work for quite a while, but if you are persistent and willing to put the time in, you can eventually make some money. If you are really persistent and dedicated, you will eventually quit that job and really make some money, this will take time, how much time depends on how hard you work, how persistent you are and how many hair-brained schemes you get involved with that will only set you back every time.

I got started by picking my niche (the hardest part) and then started writing articles about that niche and submitted those articles to ezinearticles.com for free. Start slow, stay focused and never give up...Good luck

You can earn a living online but just like you mentioned, it requires skills. Not possessing the skills can hinder you from not making money and seems you are looking for some quick cash. I would advice you go for article writing if you can write well. Affiliate marketing is great too but requires some skills.

    All the best.
