Okay, I understand that the 'best' way to build a list, is to offer the visitor something. Something good, like a video or a report, or an offer of some sort. That all makes sense and everything, and I totally get it, after all, you don't get anything for nothing.

But my problem is simple, I don't have anything to offer them. I don't have a report or video to offer them, and I'm still working on a landing page, never mind a proper squeeze page to get the list built.

I setup my account on Aweber, and have two lists started for my two websites, and have 1 sub on each (yup, both me. Had to test it after all), but why would anyone else sign up? right now, it's just a newsletter signup form.

I guess, I'm asking where to find these special, bonus offers for the sign up forum? Do you usually get them from the vendor also? do you usually create them yourself? Do I even need one if I'm in a niche that usually gets fairly high traffic? I feel like I"m missing something.

thanks

To be quite honest timber, there are a few ways that you can give value back to your subscribers. Get an interview with one of the big hitters in your niche i.e. Frank Kern in the IM niche or go out and buy a PLR product, rework it slap some new graphics on it and offer it up to your list as a lead magnet.

    Above all - TAKE ACTION!

But just in case you want a step by step plan for getting your squeeze page and lead magnet up and running see below.

    1. Take $37 and sign up for the war room(You will gain that $37 in value back within the first 5 minutes of reading posts.

    2. Look at the marketers sending you emails now. Then model and swipe. Thismeans model your squeeze page after theirs and swipe it but make sure you change up the copy and make sure to take their name off of it. Any guru I have listened to has stated to model and swipe.

    3. Go to the war room and read posts you will find ways to get PLR products or hints on where you can find lead magnets.

    4. Outsource the rewriting and graphics to freelancers on one of the many websites for freelancers - odesk, rentacoder, etc

    5. Have the graphics designer create custom images for inside the lead magnet as well as an ecover.

    6. Have your graphics designer add the graphics to the plr product and rebrand it to your name and site.

    7. Have your freelance writer rewrite the PLR content to make it 100% unique.

    8. Pay them and pay them well.

    9. Receive the finished product and upload the finished product to your site and paste in a copy of the ecover on your squeeze page.

    10. Drive traffic to that squeeze page.

    Hope that helps.

what? who? Where? Where did I get upside down?

Wow, remind me never to ask a question that just leads to millions of more questions... I guess I need someone to actually show me what I need to do. In other words, I need someone to help me. Not take me by the hand, but show me where to get the information I need.

Thanks for all the replies, seriously, but I'm just way lost with all this.

Timber, this is whatt most people go through. It is through this process of try and error that we find exactly what we need to do. If this seems so hard, you can do research, find some one doing exactly what you want to do, you could ask them to coach you(eve if it is for a few), whatever you do, don't give up

The thing to know is you do now and have access to plenty of info and value for your prospects. You just need to have a target market in mind, provide info or learn and provide info to that target market for free that they want in return for contact info and then continue to provide value and offer your service/product but more about the value or helpful info and then can have your link at signature or in email.

This way people will continue to open and read your stuff versus deleting because of constant pitches.

You could write them based on your own experiences (ie. what you'd do if you were to start again) and save them time and frustrations.

You could go over the sales pages of any hot products in your niche and find one bullet point that you could expand into a short report.

Or find several different types of PLR on the topic and combine the best parts together (maybe coupled with some forum research).

One of my failings is taking too long! So don't do that ... good enough is good enough. It's more about providing some help that lots of reading.

... oh yeah finally ... something I've heard Jason Fladlien mention lots ... pick one problem and focus the freebie on that one solution (better than trying to cover all the bases and ... taking too long!).

Good luck ... and just do it!

These days I think a lot of opt-ins don't care about the goodie
too much. They want it, but they don't expect to read it or
use it because they've got 100 other free goodies they haven't
    used either.

Instead they are looking for affinity, connection, likeability - the
goodie, the video, the graphics show you are a professional
marketer.... and they know you're going to send them offers
and they're often willing to buy - but you've got to get them
    interested.

So a PLR goodie is okay - but it's how YOU sell them on subscribing
    that counts.

It depends on niche factors lots though. Don't overthink the goodie -
just get one and start playing with making the opt-in process a little
more fun or engaging or exciting (or sexy).

You THINK you have nothing of value to offer. I had this same problem, and a large part of giving something great is having confidence in what YOU offer. Until you come to terms with that, your subscribers will feel if your confident in what your selling them, even if it is free.

      Confidence man, confidence.

Once again. Confidence. If you have to question what your giving,
people will question what you offer. I'm no personal development
coach, so I can't give you much more help than that. Tony Robins
      is a great coach.

Not true. Atleast, not from the responses I personally get
from my subscribers. From what I've seen, people use my
      free goodies.

Your thinking someone has 100 free goodies on their hard
drive, when they could be the pickiest people in the world.

True. Most people don't use the info they have, but I'm one
of those people who DO use the free AND paid stuff I get,
and I know there are others out there like it. Maybe not
      many, but there there.

Can't argue with that. It's true. I can' get my grass cut by a
professional, but I'd rather hire my neighbor to do it...even do
I'm forced to hire someone else because he's too lazy to get
      around to it

Really good stuff here. It's a process. Have fun with it and
don't get fustrated if your first squeeze page doesn't work
out, or your first offering, or even your first list of people.

It takes a little bit of time to get right, but once you do, it's
a life long skill...or atleast, for as long as the internet exists.

Give anything REALLY useful for others. I've seen some people offer garbages for only purpose of building list.

You could grow your list better when you establish value with the product/niche that you want to promote. Give your lists what they need and start from there.
