Using the "weird" keywords? need help.

So I have a site that is all about the one theme right. But I see that I can pick up some easy to rank for keywords. But these keywords I do not want in my main linking nav bar or any visible link on my page.

So if the site is about rock climbing for example I might have pages on "how to rock climb". The the keywords might be say "rock climb how to guide".

But that funny worded key phrase I do not want to be shown within the main linking structure of the site, right.

I'm thinking I can just have it as its own page, then have just one link from it going to a specific page on my site to help boost its rankings etc.

This way I think I can pick up extra little keywords, rank good for them but get them to point to my main pages, which will in turn help them rise in the SERP's.

But those pages will not be accessible from anywhere on the main website.

Understand?

Does that make sense?

Is this a good idea? Do people do it anyway?

Thanks,

Peter

Try putting these pages into posts instead, each post within a category. Example.

    how to rock climb--Category
rock climb how to guide--Post inside category
rock climbing equipment--another post inside category.

This is a great method because you can choose for visitors to either navigate your site using the categories...Which can have one or more posts in them, or you can make your categories in a drop down menu fashion. Whichever you prefer.

I found posts inside different categories is better for SEO anyways.

You get keywords in h1, h2, and h3 tags this way. I've heard it doesn't matter so much but that's what I do.

Yeah that is sort of what I mean. What you are doing is called silo site structure, which what now do.

      But consider these words then.

      rock climbing guide
      guide to rock climbing
      climbing rocks guide
      etc etc.

My point it that If you have the category "Rock climbing".
There is no point in having 4,5,6 pages/articles telling you how to do the same thing, right.

Rather have one good page, and the rest are used to get the low hanging fruit keywords and point to that main page.

Use your weird keywords as anchor text in links to your page and see if you can fit them in somewhere in the page, not necessarily the heading. Also, put them in the html tags. You should find that this is enough to rank for them if they are relatively easy ones.

Can you use a regular title in the post, and then modify it using something like All in One SEO Pack?
