Can you offer a 60 day guarantee with PayPal?

I started a new thread because this question is slightly off topic to an existing thread and I thought it would be best to keep it clean by starting fresh.

My first product will go live and I'll use PayPal at first (before moving to Clickbank later).

I'd LOVE to offer a one year guarantee, or at least 60 days. But I think PayPal only allows you to refund a customer after 30 days. So if somebody pays using PayPal this is a non-issue. I can refund them any day I like by doing a money transfer. But if they pay by credit card, how can I refund them after 60 days?

Any tricks?

You can send people back their money at any time. I offer 1 year on a lot
of my products. If they ask for a refund, I simply honor it.

If they paid through PayPal then they have an email address and you can
always send money to anybody with an email address anywhere in the world
even if they don't have a PayPal account.

You can "refund" money to someone's credit card at any time as long as you have the card number and expiry date. You do it through your merchant account.
In lieu of that you can always send a check to them however I wouldn't use that method if they paid by credit credit card unless at least 90 days have passed. When ever possible its good policy to refund using the same method as the payment you received.

You don't want to be stuck with a charge back and a check refund going to the same person.

80% of my transactions are done with a credit card vs only about 20% using PayPal.

PayPal refunds are either 60 or 90 days but you can go longer if you want.

However, if you do, you will not get the PayPal fee back AND you *must* send more than the purchase amount so the buyer doesn't lose money. After all, it's not fair to make them pay PayPal fees to receive a refund even if it's a small amount.

According to the PayPal web site...

You can issue a refund for up to 60 days after the original payment was sent. PayPal refunds the payment and fees, including partial fees for partial refunds.
After that, you need to "send" the buyer money, and as mentioned above, you should include a bit extra to cover their fees for receiving money.

Often you will see "45 Day Money Back Guarantee" on sites that take PayPal, as to allow a slight amount of time to make sure you got the email in time to be able to click the refund link in the transaction. Otherwise giving a 60 day refund window, they might send it on the 61st day, or so close to the cut off that by the time you try to go do the refund, the link has disappeared.

If you have received money from anyone within the last 60 days into your PayPal account, go look at the information page for that transaction. At the bottom of the page is the information about refunds.
