Question/Suggestion - Site purchased

Ok here is my question and need your suggestion.

I purchased a recent site/forum which has been around for several years and has a lot of topics posts and replies.
The forum is now not very active, and has about 2k registered users, but it looks like only 5-10 people are active if even that.

The site is a PR3 and very high rank for many keywords.
The site probably gets 50-100 unique visitors per day if that.
And to get a license to continue it as a forum board would be about $150.

So my question, should I make the plunged and turn it into a Blog site with lots of unique articles for $150?

Or should I just get the forum license for $150 but now I am back to square one where the reason the person probably sold it was no money revenue and the maintenance of a forum is a lot if you do not have paid moderators.

Any suggestion? I think if I turn the site to a blog and use that $150 towards articles and put adsense, and affiliate links I think the traffic may just increase.

Before turning it into a blog, try to "get back" the members.

Make a contest, event or something and send them a private message to all of the members. Give them something valuable in exchange, and of course, base your own forum as the "venue" of the event so they come back frequently.

If that doesn't work, turn it into a blog.

    Cheers!

    Alex Kei.

If I turn it into a blog then I have many links in search engines that will go nowhere, So there are visitors to particular links on google where they go directly to a part of the forum.
How can I make ALL those links go to my homepage instead?
