Is Product Creation "Hot"?

Hey Warriors

I'm just curious if you think this is the case. I feel like I haven't seen much talk about it lately but I was wondering: is product creation currently one of the "hot" topics or are people still just focused on CPA and stuff right now?

What're your thoughts? Is there still a market for teaching people how to make their own products?

There will always be a market for product creation.

Otherwise, what will all the affiliates and cpa networks push?

Product creation is HOT, as long as you create a HOT product!

    Crackin me up!

Andrew - what's up? Yes - product creation is something that a lot of people don't know where to start on.

I think a site that TEACHES people how to create products would be awesome. OR - aproduct that teaches how to create products...

You're in the IM space man. People are always interested in learning something new (probably more interested in learning something new than applying what they already know).

That is so true. There is a lot of fun in figuring out all of this internet marketing stuff but the hard part and most rewarding part is just the hard work

Absolutely...There will always be people who want to be the product owner instead of the affiliate. I'm from the school of this being a more sustainable business model than other online businesses.

It seems to me that in this niche, something becomes "hot" as soon as it seems like everybody and their brother starts cranking out products about it. CPA, Twitter, Offline Consulting...These things became hot sub-niches not because there were a sudden demand for new business models, but because there were high profile people in the industry saying (more or less) that this was the next big thing.

Having said that, I don't think product creation ever stopped being "hot" in terms of people wanting to learn how it's done. It's just that it may not seem hot to you because there aren't as many high profile voices mentioning it compared to things like CPA and offline consulting.

As an aside, I think one sub-niche that there will always be a huge demand for in IM is traffic generation, especially for newbies and intermediates.

Thomas pretty much sums it up. There will always be a market for it. Affiliate marketing is nowhere without products, and there will always be those two main groups, those who recommend products & those who create the products.

Waiting for it to cycle around to being a 'hot topic' again is just leaving money on the table.

Having *your own* products will almost always out pull everything else.

Affiliate marketing is significantly boosted when you have your own list of buyers to promote other people's products to. And creating a sales funnel and "chain" of quality products means consistent revenue for you.

Some advantages of product creation (the way I see it):

    1. You set your own price
    2. You make 100% of the profits
    3. You build a list of buyers that you can market to time and time again.
    4. You're free to create your own promotions and bundles
    5. You are helping people directly
    6. You become the source of quality information and solutions and THE trusted expert.
    7. You become much more interesting to JV partners and affiliates.

But creating products can be an extremely confusing and complicated process for most people.

So naturally, teaching about product creation is a good fit... but then again, I'm biased since I just launched a product creation coaching program with Nicole Dean (Rapid Product Formula).

I think there will always be a market for products that teach how to do fundamentals like product creation, traffic, and conversions... BUT you still need to have your own twist that makes it different from other products currently out.

Depends on what kind of money you're wanting to make. A few hundred or even a thousand a month, not a bad route to take. But, if you think you're going to hit the motherload millions in a week with another ebook on how to make a viral video on YouTube or some kind of e-course or Internet marketing member site or "get your website on top of Google in 7 days" best seller, I think you're in dreamworld.

Leave those kinds of things to the big marketers with their giant lists and good 'ol boy rings of joint venture partners.

Andrew, with your permission, I'm going to leave the "I want to make money by creating a product" road and go down a different path here.

Most people have an innate desire to live beyond their fingertips. I pity those who don't--really! If you've got a big house, that says something about you. If you drive a new JagXJ, that says something about you. If you can tell people you have traveled to 30 different countries, that says something about you.

People want to be, or at least want to appear to be, more than just a motile body with a brain. We buy cool stuff to impress others. We do cool things we think will impress others. We do things to try to make us appear larger than life. And I'm not critical of that.

Creating a product does this. It extends one's presence well beyond their fingertips. It says, hey--this person is a person of substance and has done something very cool.

If you go to a party you will hear people talk about how much money they make, how they just got a raise, how they just screwed someone who tried to screw them in some way. And that stuff is all boring; Nobody cares.

But if you mention you've written a book, developed some software, produced some videos--people want to hear you talk about it. The general population doesn't understand the process. It is a mystery and they like to learn more.

So creating a product is more than just about making money. It's about giving your great ideas wings with which to fly. It's about sharing with the world and growing in doing that.

Creating a product is more than just about making money. It's about growing as individuals through the expression of our ideas.

I think everything goes in cycles... about a year from now stuff that was "old" a while ago will come again packaged as new for the newer marketers just coming in, it has always worked like that, especially because the majority of core marketing information shared has been available since the late 1800's... Yeah I know they didn't have the internet, I'm talking about the core main basis of marketing.
