For your list do you use "confirmed opt-in"?

Just wondering if anyone uses confirmed opt-in with their email list? and why/why not? Does it really keep out that much spam or does it keep people from going back to their email and confirming?

  • I don't because I didn't want to lose people who didn't know to confirm...I don't deal in a niche that is familiar with email marketing. However, in an IM niche I would really think about using a confirmed opt-in or double opt-in as some call it.

    • ahh ya that makes sense. for the IM niche most people know what they are doing and what they want. Other niches may not include tech savy people.
  • I would still recommend using the double opt-in, what would the feds think of some internet marketer, not wanting his subscribers to double opt-in because they don't understand the process?
  • I use opt-in as I like to see my subscribers take the action of opening their email and confirming their subscription. I makes me think that if they are willing to open their email they must be interested in my offer. That's my though anyway!
  • I use the double-opt in. It makes my AR provider happy and it allows me to focus on serious subscribers. - instead of freebie seekers
