Need some help in setting up online store!

Hello Warriors,

I am now preparing the site for an online store. However, I still have this difficulty in setting up the online store.

The products are health products. What are the things that need to be considered first when setting up this store? May you recommend helpful tools to be used for this as well?

What method of payment is the best?

I am also currently doing tons of research concerning this.

Please help me and any information you may provide will be highly appreciated.

Thanks a lot!

    Hi,

Are these affiliate sales or are you actually shipping the product?

      Hi allenjohn,

Yes, I ship the products. This can be called as drop ship. They order from me then I pay the warehouse to send out the products, which are delivered directly.

Do you know of any tool which could be of help?

Have you looked into osCommerce for the site? It's a free online store template, pretty good.

I would suggest you look at PremiumWebCart. They will be able to handle all of your needs under 1 roof. They are integrated with over 80 different payment gateways, along with running Paypal at the same time. I believe it is important to have both a payment gateway set-up and paypal to give your customers an option in what way they would like to purchase. In my opinion, it looks very unprofessional to simply offer Paypal as your only purchase option.

Another thing you need to consider is an eCommerce Software which can help you gain as much revenue per sale as possible with Advanced Upsells and Bundle Offers as an option. It is always important to be able to sell to your customer as many products you can. Also, choose a system with integrated autoresponder systems so you are able to get your customers into a list and are able to keep selling to them even after the sales transaction is complete. PremiumWebCart will allow you to automatically put your customers into an autoresponder list which you have set-up, and continue to send automatically generated emails too. You can also put web forms and sign-up forms on your website to be able to grow both your affiliate system and customer list.

Whether you are ready to start an affiliate system right off the bat or not, it is important to eventually have a credible affiliate system to have others sell your products for you. Nothing is easier than letting others spend their money on advertising and letting them generate sales without you even having to lift a finger. Like I said earlier, there are affiliate sign up forms already automatically generated in PremiumWebCart which can easily be put onto your site with a simple hyperlink. You will also be able to create all sorts of banner ads for your affiliates to place on their site.

Lastly, PremiumWebCart has their own fulfillment center. So, all you have to do with just a click of the mouse is to send the orders to them, and they will send all your orders out in less than 24 hours. Just another integrated feature you will be able to control all from 1 admin area.

Since you are already doing a ton of research on this, I would recommend you checking out ScamDetective [dot] com and click on ecommerce tools. It has around 20 different eCommerce platform reviews there, along with actual customer reviews of all the most popular shopping carts/ecommerce tools on the internet today.

Hope this info helps you out... please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you. Have a great weekend.

        Best Wishes,

        Wendy
Thank you so much Wendy for you have spoken well and wisely. This is truly a magnificent info. Actually, I am using wordpress, can this platform handle this?

I'm not sure which part of the planet you're located in, but in the USA I highly recommend a 1-800 number for a physical products site. I have one on mine I wouldn't trade it for a first page ranking on Google (I have a lot of those, too :p).

Here's the deal...when folks are buying downloadable products many of them want to remain as anonymous as possible. They want the product, they don't necessarily want you to know where they live. In fact, a lot of folks use PayPal, et al, for the simple reason they don't want you to know their credit card info or anything unnecessary about them.

But physical products require an address for the product to be shipped to. This elevates the game to some degree with the customer now having to be less anonymous than with a digital product. By providing a phone # for them to ask questions, aleviate fears, build trust, etc., you increase your chances of building credibility prior to the sale.

The 1-800 number allows them to call you on your dime, and also makes you appear to be a larger company than you may be, as well as a long term player.

But the best part is 1-800 #'s are dirt cheap, they bypass caller ID so you have a record of the number that called, and if you are lucky you can get a number that you can brand (1-Eight Hundred-WARRIOR, as an example).

A good script i recommend is ZenCart because has a lot of good features & stuff.
For the payment, if you can have all the payment methods it will be OK.
For most of the people, PayPal seems to be good. Now depends on your potential clients what type of payment processor they use, so how I say if you can have all the payment methods, then it will be OK.

I have tried most e commerce shopping carts, and my favorite one is the wp-press commerce program called ShopperPress 4.1

Its devently easy to build a store with wordpress platform and works great with rss product feed built into it for google shopping cart and product listings. Most of the other ecom charge extra for add ons this one doesnt. Go try it they have a 30 day money back.

Hey Louie if you want to run an ecommerce store on WordPress you should definitely check out ShopperPress:

    ShopperPress - Wordpress Shopping Cart

I've just started using it myself and it's freaking awesome.

Otherwise my second recommendation, though not WordPress, would be PrestaShop.

Free but super good: PrestaShop Free Open-Source e-Commerce Software for Web 2.0

if you want to be worry free after setup, i would suggest you some hosted cart. opensource carts like oscommerce has to be updated frequently as hackers finds exploit n can hack your store if you don't update frequently.

For hosted carts - ultracart and 1shoppingcart both are good option.
