Got the traffic, Where's the money?

I started a blog site bestabsdiet.com and quickly landed on the first pages of google, yahoo and bing.

I would like to hear how to monetize the site. I recently lost my job and need to create an income. I would love to do it from the internet. Any ideas on how to monetize my site other than the obvious - affiliate product, google adsense?

Checked out the site...it looks good. Have you looked into clickbank products? because I'm pretty sure they will have products that fit your niche perfectly and will give you a good percentage of each sale. Pretty basic form of monetizing but works great with a niche like yours.

You can use Amazon for exercise equipment, etc., too. They have lots of really neat tools for their affiliates, they're super easy to use.

Look into the program "Truth About Abs". That is a super high selling product.

One thing that you need to keep in mind is that you need to tell your prospects basically all you know about getting in shape, losing belly fat, and getting abs.

If you don't know anything about that stuff, then learn it... if you want to make good money with this site that is.

I think your goal should be to figure out what is really going on with these people who are losing that stubborn belly fat and getting abs and teach them how they can have more success.

If you are giving them valuable free information, they will tell others about your site, you will get even more traffic, and they will trust you when you recommend they buy a quality product that you get commission for.

Don't do what thousands of failed IMers have done and ignore the part about focusing on value and "connecting" with your customers.

It's your choice whether you want this site to be a $500/mo site or a $5,000+/site.

This is exactly right. Give people what they want, and they'll keep coming back for more -- and bringing their friends. The money follows. It doesn't come first.

This is CRUCIAL. Ranking well for a soul-less blog packed with outsourced blog posts will not make squat since you will not connect with your audience. The blog needs to feel personal, and for that you need to actually KNOW the stuff you're writing about.

It's not only about keyword density, ranking well, backlinks, etc. Non of that matters if the actual content you provide is copy-pasted crap you've spun off other sites. Again, a blog must feel unique, personal, and valuable in order to make money.

Install Google Analytics on your web pages. If they are leaving as soon as they land on the page then you bounce rate is too high. That mean the traffic is worthless. The surfers are landing on a page that the content is not what they are looking for. So, simply they bounce to another site.

Warning: this stuff takes time. Making fast money advice, hold on to your wallet.

Its the right traffic you need.

Traffic by itself don't mean squat. Give me 10 who want the product vs 1000 of tire kickers

Do you mean from article marketing, blog posting, etc? Or from something else? (Sorry if this is a dumb question, just want to see if I'm missing something... thanks)

You can get targeted traffic using many ways but if FREE is your way, then you want your traffic coming from Google. But yes article marketing and blog comments are effective and will help your websites ranking improve in Google so its like killing 2 birds with 1 stone.

So a simple system would be:
        - KEYWORD RESEARCH (very important)
        - Submit your article to your website
        - Wait for Google to index it
        - Then submit it to article directories like Ezine Articles
        - DO some backlinking like posting on forums, blog comments, social bookmarking etc
        Profit

  • What do you mean when you say "got the traffic?" Anything under 1,000 visitors a day is squat for a blog.

Depending on what traffic you are getting i would get into a model for monitizing the blog i understand that you just lost the job but take caution some income on things like adsense and clickbank if there is alot of competition then you going to have to compete which could take months to do

Personally i would do CPA networking such as CPAlead because you can just lock the site with a bonus offer to entice people to fill out the survey and you get paid for it right away. But it all depends on what traffic and what you can offer

Check out those Analytics and see what your users are searching for when they find your site.

After you have done that, make sure to stick to your plan.

I see you have ads scattered all across your page. 20 different offers across 20 different affiliate programs are only going confuse your viewers.

    Target that traffic!

Just make sure that each page has got one major offer on each one. If people are coming in looking for quick at home exercises on some page deep in your site, make sure to sell them an ebook or at least get them to opt in to a list.

If they are just seeking some quick info (non-product type of info) on another page, give them a quick Google Adsense ad, or an opt in for more information.

Just make sure to keep your focus.

Given too many choices, your visitors will choose the "Back" button.

wow man, There are alot of ads on the left hand side of the blog.

we all want to make money on our blogs, but that may be a little too mcuh. maybe pick
just a couple ads there and see how they perform. Then get rid of the ones that don't
    convert and try new ones.

Ebay and amazon are also good.
