Hi guys,

Can anybody experienced in creating powerpoint presentation
videos tell me what is the exact technique to do it, step-by-step?
Like step1 - do this, step2 - do that...etc.

    Step 1: Create your presentation
    Step 2: Open up camtasia
Step 3: Select "Record a Powerpoint Presentation"
Step 4: Start speaking in the microphone
Step 5: Stop the recording and save the video

Which step do you need more detail with?

Have you created a presentation yet?

If not, do you know how to use PowerPoint (or Keynote on the Mac)? If the answer to that is no, go play around with that first until you can put a series of slides together.

(Optional: Throw a bunch of money at someone and have them put your presentation together for you.)

A simple search on Google found this:

It should cover everything if you know how to use Powerpoint.

      Thank you guys.

I have some experience with Camtasia but
I've never created a pp presentation, so that's
maybe the part I need most info about.

I believe that converting already created presentation
to a video using Camtasia is the easy part.

Can you guide me a little in creating the pp presentation
like those that we see most today?
What PP templates are best to use (or most used), what
      effects to use, etc.

I'm not sure if you are struggling with powerpoint or how to make it "sizzle".

I searched for powerpoint intro and found lots of results, many from colleges like:
Introduction to PowerPoint 2003 :: Melanie Cofield

This is on 2003, fIf you're using a different version add 2007 or whatever to your search.

As far as effects to use, etc. - IMHO, most of those make things really, really amateurish. If you have every single slide in, explode out, noise making thing in the world, it better be a presentation on how to use all the crap that comes with powerpoint!

Listen, don't use the tool to make the presentation. Use the tool to highlight and emphasize the MESSAGE you are giving in the presentation. All those fly-around things and noises just DISTRACT the audience from the presenter and let them drift off into space while wondering who knows what.

There are tons of templates for a clean look and feel - many built-in, lots free with a search. Don't get too "themey" - just pick something professional and appropriate for your audience. Clean, simple backgrounds or non-invasive images are the best IMHO.

If you're holding the audience's attention, and delivering info with the slide show only being supporting data, it really doesn't matter much what it looks like. ;-)

    All success.

I'd like to add my take to what Gary said.

It's not that you shouldn't use some animation or transitions between slides, but don't use them all. Pick a transition for your presentation and use that for every slide. Choose an effect to use when your words appear and use that one every time in that presentation.

In most cases it's better to be understated than over-the-top. In fact, if you use NO transitions or build effects -- but your message is compelling -- people won't even notice you didn't have things flying all over the place.

The effects should enhance the message -- if they don't, leave them out.

The truth is, nobody is going to be able to give you an in depth training on how to do this in the limitations of a forum reply.

If you're serious you may want to pay for some proper training to do this, you may be wise to invest some money on a training course specific to creating powerpoint marketing videos.

I'd recommend something like Ryan Deiss Video Sales Letter Formula:

Thanks again guys, I really appreciate your advices.

Since this strategy is not a secret, I will tell you exactly
what my idea with this is.

I want to convert some higher quality PLR reports/ebooks
within IM niche into PP presentation videos. At least
some parts of them. So what I need is a nice presentation
of titles, subtitles and body text with transition effects and
        my voice recorded.

I understand your point about the effects and I didn't
intend to use tons of effects either, just some nice,
moderate transitions from slide to slide, as I have
seen on many video sales letters. Maybe even some
fly-in or fade-in effects for titles and bullet points.

Now when you know exactly what I want to accomplish
I hope you can give more specific advices for this
particular purpose e.g.abot the templates that would
be best to use etc. Whatever you think could help me.

I don't think anyone can give specific advice on templates/transitions etc because it would depend on the content you're going to be putting on each video.

I mean you'd use a different template/transition set for a video on relationships than you'd use for a video on computer games.

Not quite sure I get what it is you're wanting exactly. Making the video is easy.

          Create the presentation.
Fire up the screen capture software
Run the presentation, narrating as you go.
If you don't have the screen capture software, save the presentation as png file and import to movie maker.

Sorry, but I'm not sure if you're asking for the 'how' or the 'what'.

I definitely know what I want to do, and now even how.

I've put some pieces together now thanks to all of you
and it seems to be quite easy to convert an ebook
into PP presentation. Recording it with Camtasia will
            be fun

              Almic,

I've had difficulty with Powerpoint and Camtasia, so I spent quite a bit of time looking at an alternative way to do Slide Presentations with audio.

The best Option I found is a service called "Slide Rocket".

I found I can do everything I need to with their Free Version.

The best thing I like is that you can splice your audio into the slides, so you can say narrate a separate audio file and then upload that to your slide and comes out really professional.

              Best To You,

              David

Just export all your powerpoint slides as individual JPG images... which can then be imported into any video editor as individual clips that can be expanded to fit whatever length of segment you want to fill.

Far more flexibility and control to build your video in pieces than to try and shoot everything in a single take.

Camtasia can be finicky (particularly the older versions) but I still find it is one of the most full featured suites out there. I'd plus one on Camtasia for you Alminc. Also they have documentation and samples projects/videos. You can even search Camtasia on YouTube for samples. So there is lots of support available to you out of the box.
