I've made US$810 in my first 2 months-Am I still a Newbie???

hahaha - I was interested today to see how much I've earnt in the "big" world of IM (I was pretty successful on eBay til that changed the rules several thousand times earlier this year)

I have a few websites that I've started (I'm great at starting - finishing is a problem for me) and one -yes only one - I have actually done some promoting on - I found a few posts on yahoo questions and thriftyforum and answered them. I've done this maybe 3 or 4 times & answered only 2 or 3 questions each time - that's a total of around 10 or 12 answers. I've submitted one article about 6 weeks ago, but the only link was in the bio box (I didn't know how to add links to the actual article LOL) & a recent article last week with links this time.

I've made a total of US$810 over the last 2 months - imagine what I could do if I actually focused on this & did everything I know I should do, let alone the stuff I have no idea about!! In today's market that US$810 would be over AUS$1200 - WOOHOO!

I'm so excited I had to share this - does this mean I have to stop calling myself a newbie now?

I'm hoping to get to the stage where Bloke stops complaining about me spending my life on the computer hahaha

Just going back to the stuff I dont know about - social networking, bookmarking, rss, etc etc - can someone either educate me or put me onto some good FREE info (I find the free info is usually the best place to understand the basics, before getting into the nittygritty).

thanks heaps all you wonderful Warriors - I have grown so much in the time I've been here - I get a great deal from posting - adding something - feeling good when I actually can help someone, that's awesome.

hey Brock thanks for that - I'm reasonably comfortable with article marketing now - I just need to actually DO it.

The reason I recommended BMM is because you said in your post that you did not know how to put a link in an article. Since you have already had success with Article Marketing it only makes sense that you continue down that path and learn how to do more of what is successful. Learning to put a link in an article could increase your results significantly.

I've found it's usually the simple things that bring the greatest return.

I think those are wonderful results with the effort you put into it. I am what you call a newbie and I would say you are on the next level. You would be making a lot more if you did promote a little more. Keep up the good work.

hey Brock - yeah I spent a bit of time & figured it out before I posted my second article.

I'd say 90+% of my sales have come from answering questions in thriftyforum & yahoo answers & wikianswers, so I can't wait to see the results after I post a heap more articles.

My niche is a very specific refined niche, within a niche, within a niche. There are sooooo many people searching for an answer to their problem and I provide the answer (for a price of course). It's def not in the IM niche. My niche has very little competition and the buyers are hungry - they'll try anything to get a result, (of course I have a quality product that works a treat) I've only had 2 refund requests & they were done withing a few minutes of making their purchase, they wouldn't have had time to even extract the file before they asked for the refund - but ah well you get that.

The best "free" info I can give is to just get out and SELL stuff.

Seriously - forget about building brands and everything that you'll probably *think* will make you rich - just concentrate in revenue and profit and the rest will follow

Other than that - well done!

    Hello,
    What an impressive result.

To the best of my knowledge on IM, i will advice to stick to your wining method.

Dig deep into it since it is yielding.

I'd say you have passed beyond that "Newbie" title since the vast bulk of people never make a dime in this arena.

    Congrats!

You should be proud that you have become profitable this fast!

I'm not sure you can define the success of others so easily as $$$ is not always the full measure.

"Newbie" should be a temporary condition - you stop being one when you stop thinking of yourself as one. At some point, you might want to send a note to the help desk to get "newbie" out of your name

Personally I think you should continue to have a "Newbie Attitude". Because it is a learning attitude that will continue to make you a veteran.

Now take what you have already learned and refine it. Which is basically what you are asking for. Take your success study it, pick out the right things, discard the wrong things (but remember them, so you don't repeat them) then improve on the right thing and do it again. To me that is the mark of a veteran.

Implement the new strategies one step at a time and get it right before you try another one. This way you will know what is working for you and what is not. I'm pretty sure that qualifies for free advise. LOL

Congrats on your success and thank you for helping other Warriors in the process.

Well the alleged stats are the only 5% of people doing IM make any income worth talking about. Once you break the $2,000 net income per month then I'd say you're safely in the upper range of that 5% :-)

Like the guys said most people never make a red cent doing this stuff because they have all the best intentions but never put in the effort :-)
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[179107].message }}

I think instead of reading up you should look at what you did that brought in the income and do a whole lot more of that for at least another month and see what happens.

You said it yourself "what if you just did what you know."

Also it pays to always think of yourself as a newbie in this business.

Things change fast and the great strategy or great market today can be a total loser tomorrow.

You want to be evergreen...always learning...and even more important...taking immediate action on what you learn.

      Kindest regards,
      Andrew Cavanagh

Hey Melissa - yup - I'm ready for a BIG bash on the Goldie. OK, Peter Drew - thanks. I plan on meeting as many Aussie Warriors as I can - I know it doesn't matter what stage we're all at, we all have something to share.

I've packed the coffee, the weetbix, the red wine & a note book. I've just finished printing some business cards, cleaned my shoes and lectured Master 15 to leave my computer alone while I'm away. I think I'm ready.

Congrats on your newbie success. lol I would not say that you are out of newbie territory yet but it looks like you lived through the hazing. Like NiallR said you are one of the small percentage that actually got out there and put forth an effort.

But being a newbie is not really based on how much you make but how much you know IMO. I have been doing this for about 3 years and would not consider myself passed the intermediate stage yet. With people on here doing this for 8+ years I am still far away from that pro stage.

However I took it a step further than some and actually have real life experience and results that I can write about. Once you get the basics down you should have your try at becoming a trail blazer.

Go out and play around with different things and find out ways to make them work great instead of good. Hell I have been doing the answer site thing for close to a year now. Then I went and wrote about my experiences and things I have learned. So I have some things that the average Joe has no clue about.

One thing I suggest trying though if you have not done it already though is to ditch the IM niche if you are in it. The IM niche is harder to sell to. There are so many other lucrative niches out there so do not be afraid to swim in new waters. My recent "Leveraging Answer Sites" WSO was the first time I did anything in the IM niche for over a year, (Besides JV Giveaways).

All in all it looks like you are on the right path. Keep up the good work and I am sure there are good things in your future.

Great job! Seems like you are on the right track. You could probably find all the information you need if you keep browsing right here on these boards. Social networking and bookmarking are pretty straight forward. You just have to take the time to get the accounts set up and spend time letting people know that your page exsists. These methods are good for direct traffic.

We gotta set the bar a bit higher than "$1"! Hell, I made $500 back in 2001, fixing up an old car and selling it online.

I think I'll have to sell something from my own website before I'll really feel like I've done some IM.

Sorry, but I disagree. $1 is THE bar. It is the difference between earning nothing, and earning something. That 1st dollar changes everything from theory to proof.

Why take away from someone else's success, no matter how small YOU think it is.

Sure, $500 is better than $1, but if you start setting the bar at $500 you will scare a lot of people off - people that deserve to make money like you or me.

      Hi Stef,

I think you are not a newbie anymore, but you are making a classic newbie mistake.

You found a niche that is highly profitable. You found the medium to advertise to them to make money. Yahoo answers and articles.

Your mistake is to think you have to do the work. You did the hard part finding the profitable niche, now go outsource someone to write articles and answer questions for you.

Get you one of those virtual assistants and put them to work. Heck, you don't even have to let them know what you are going to do with the work they are doing for you. Cut and paste a bunch of those questions and email to them to find the answers to.

Looks like there would be a lot of profit left over after outsourcing. So what are you waiting on . . . get busy.

Else we will change your name to The Lazy Newbie haha . . . just kidding.

Outsource and market this niche to death and get out there and find your next one.

      Duplicate and repeat.

      Keep us updated.

      Later,
      Terry
