Making an info product into a membership site

If I were to create a membership site from my standalone ecourse, is there any reason I shouldn't sell both at the same time?

If the content of the standalone ecourse can be broken down into parts and if those parts can be monthly/weekly parts in a membership site, then you can have these 2 selling at the same time.

Having said that, I think you'll have to create new content constantly for your membership site if you want to avoid cancellation/unsatisfied customers.

If the only content you have is your ecourse then it might be better to sell it in parts wherein each part is delivered after the payment for that part is automatically processed. So you have X number of payments set up for X number of parts.

Thank you for your reply. The course is already split up into lessons, so I was thinking in terms of a fixed-term membership, a lesson a week for 6 months, something like that. Of course, hopefully then I could offer them something more advanced in order to keep them as customers.

    You could do this:

Sell the ecourse as entry level package.

Sell the audio course as a OTO1 on the initial purchase at a higher price that includes the ecourse.

Sell the video version of the course as an OTO2 in addition to the ecourse with bonus material that supplements the ecourse at the highest price.

You could do the video course in a membership script that allows you to email members, so you could also promote additional supplemental modules to the members on various intervals... or promote other products not your own related to the material in your course.

Thank you, Dennis. What I take from your post is that it's no problem to sell them concurrently, but I should have several different offers, each including the ecourse itself, but with varying levels of additional content for varying prices. Right?

Can you just string out content for 6 months and people will want to pay for that? Or do you need to add a forum? Maybe it depends on the niche you are in.

Yes, it can easily be released lesson by lesson. Right now it stands at 55 lessons, so I would probably double them up so there would be approximately 6-7 months' worth of lessons. Or I suppose I could offer the shorter term AND the longer term.

I do have a private student forum, but I would probably want to have a separate one for the membership site students, knowing that they can't just jump ahead to page 189 to look at something, not to mention there would surely be some other differences in what they get in the overall package.

I guess my main question is still whether it would be a problem for my students if the one product is available in two different ways. Or maybe I just answered my own question. No one should care how the information is getting delivered to someone else, right? The cost would be similar, so it's not like I'd be charging two drastically different prices for essentially the same thing.

And I wouldn't want to upset my affiliates in any way, but I believe it might actually be of help to them because they can have another option to offer.

I think I'm figuring this out just by thinking out loud. I do appreciate all your comments and any more who pop in with input on my meanderings here.

    Hi

i would offer a basic version as the stand alone ebook and then the course can be more money and stand as your upsell.

Alternatively you could also have the ecourse offered all in one go as a one off purchase.

    kind regards
