I'm not a pro myself I use yahoo answers and relevant forum signatures and get a couple dozen click throughs a day with this, you do need a level 2 Yahoo Answers account to do this though.

Article writing is probably the best for someone just getting started. Write and submit articles to ezinearticles.com

plus, backlinking by making relevant comment on high-ranking blogs will help.

Another thing to consider is traffic exchanges, and list-builder sites, such as ListJoe.com

Hi I am new too but articles seem to be working at the moment. Write them and then use as a blog post, then submit to article sites, then add to your facebook, twitter, linked in. Not sure if this is even the right order but it is a good way of using the same content in a variety of places? I write informative, how to, top tips type of things which go down well with the mums I am aiming for! Not sure where you are aiming at so it's hard to know where to start. Good luck anyway!

hi pdm1, all the traffic strategies already mentioned are great but if you want traffic fast you have to do things a little bit different. It you are working on a site long term then article marketing and the such can be the way to go but if you need some quick traffic to a site or offer go with things like "guest post" and jv promotions. There are plenty of sites in your niche that would be willing to accept a guest post from you. You can also look on the warrior forum for JV partnerships so that you can get others helping you out in exchange for something. hope this helps

I agree. Plus, research on blogs relevant on your niche so you could comment on them and contribute your knowledge. That way, bloggers will also see your interest to connect with them. Find relevant blogs by typing in <keyword>: blog and see the results.

Alternatively, videos will always stay viral but if you're not keen in creating one, connect with these video marketing experts and arrange interviews with them. Basically, a good start would be to claim some of their freebies and sending them an email so that way you're also showing your compliment. At the same time, it's easier to build relationships and make arrangements suitable with both of you.

    Hi there,

Well there is free traffic and paid traffic.

I see that many people here suggest article marketing which is brilliant, but also keep in mind that it is a long term investment for that sort of method.

You can get great results when you have around 50-100 articles and that will bring in traffic for a very long time. Free traffic normally does take a lot of effort to build up backlinks etc but again, you should see that as building a business for the long run.

Websites like evotraffic, Revisitors, WebtrafficAgents can really help you generate targeted traffic to your site. It is dead cheap compare to something like Adwords or Adbrite and will help you build your list very quickly.

Also traffic exchanges like TrafficSwarm,Easyhits4u can help you drive traffic for free. There is also a paying option of $5.95 for a 1,000 visitors. Just be careful with what your site is offering. If it is not targeted enough, then no one will sign up.

You can as well setup a blog and then link to your squeeze page. Post SEO optimized articles and the free organic traffic will find your blog. Submit your blog feed to free feed directories for faster indexing.

    Paul.

I assume you're targeting a niche and microniche with high online buyer activity...

...and also a set of keywords which get high local and global monthly search volume...

...and the top 10 competing page results in the 1st page of Google after you search your target keywords are PR2-below pages under PR4-below domains...

...if you write softsell marketing article content and submit it to EZA as well as to other top ranking directories with high PR and traffic, then you can funnel that organic search traffic from this directory to your content pages because your EZA, GA and other published articles can outrank your competitors in relevant SE results pages...

...and since you publish your articles on your site first as content pages before submitting them to the top ranking directories, then you gain more content pages...

...then if you Google your target keywords and find a list of dofollow high PR high traffic forums relevant to your niches and microniches ranking high on Google's 1st page, consider becoming a member of these forums and contributing useful relevant content since your threads and posts about subjects relevant to your niches, microniches and keywords will most likely rank high on relevant SE results pages, and because these forums are trafficked by viewers members possibly interested in your offers, you funnel both the organic SE traffic and the forum traffic to your content pages...

...then, you can also Google your target keywords and go to high ranking sites which you can't post or contribute content because you can ask the owners of these sites to place your relevant ads in their newsletters or sites in exchange for content, headers, etc.

...also, Y!A posts and similar high trafficked sites, which should of course be relevant to your niches, microniches and keywords, should be considered.

    Hope this helps.

Educate your self on some SEO. and try to focus primarily on SEO. getting keyword research down will be a huge influencer in the SEO path. and on your down time, forum posting with a signature can do wonders.

keyword research and good steady promotion will get you traffic, eg research some long tail keywords with minimal comptetion but a reasonable amount of searches each day, start creating backlinks with the long tail keywords as anchor text, make sure the backlinks you create are on sites relevant to your blog or site,

you can also use web 2.0 properties such as hubpages squidoo and hundreds more, create or get some articles relating to those keywords and upload them to ezine and other article sites ensuring that you have a link back to your site in the article with the keywords as your anchor text.

Do the same with youtube as mentioned above, create videos relating to your niche, make sure the text body and the tags are keyword rich and have a link back to your site or blog.

Social media is great if played correctly, use facebook groups or fanpages, twitter, myspace etc to start building a following and get your site out there, use the likes of reddit or fark if you have an interesting news type article on your blog and for your videos.

social bookmarking is not as great as in days gone by however you can still use it for getting indexed building backlinks etc.

Ping each new post or article each day and let the serps know your there.

any questions drop me a message or post here, there is a wealth of experience on here and other IM forums.

Try to write at least one article per day and submit them to the top directory like the ezine articles. Before you know it in one month you will have 30 articles generating free traffic on your site. Also one effective approach is creating good informative videos and submiting them to the top video sites like U tube.

You need submit at least 2-3 articles each day and make sure submit to Ezinearticles first, once they approve your articles submit them to other article directories but you need to change the headlines.
