How long did it take to go fulltime for you.

For me two years.
I first paid to join Alex Jeffreys coaching program and to be honest still struggled to make cash online. A lot of that was to do with me, I still had a boss and putting time into my marketing was difficult.
The coaching program was good, it did teach me how to be more organised and to write down to do lists.
I think I lacked believe in the early days to be honest. The turning point for me was when I started to recognise that I did have value to offer, and also that you do not have to do everything yourself. I really don't understand why I didn't get that sooner. I had some success with offline business and I would never have dreamed of doing all the work from the ground up.
So outsourcing the stuff that I will never be good at, or I am just to slow at has made a huge difference.
Again that is about recognising that you have value and that time is money.
The first year came and went with none of my goals achieved, and to be fair I did consider listening to all those people saying no one makes any real money online.
Then something happend, I started to see and understand how it all works. In many ways that is because of you my fellow warriors. This forum is full of golden nuggets.
Once self-belief joined the pack I was on my way.
Don't take me wrong, I am in no way making a fortune, but my business grows every month.
I think the best advice I can give is to believe in yourself and take action. Never be to frightend to ask for help. I sometimes even now ask the most simplest of questions. Internet marketing covers such a massive field that you can't possibly know every department.
It took me two years, but I quit my job a month ago and moved to the south of France.
Onwards and upwards.

    Hi Andy,

    Congratulations

It took me two years to go from my full time hours to part time hours and then a further year after that to start earning enough to quite my full time job. So for me it was 3 years in total. That was back in 2007 and I've never looked back.

    Cheers,
    Suzanne

It is good to hear these encouraging stories, and realistic too. For me, it was about the same, 2 years. This was after I stopped reading about how to become a millionaire over night from every guru under the sun and actually pulled my finger out. A good method, that I suggest, is to cut back on costs and get a part-time job to support you while you build your business. In my case, I changed my mortgage to interest only and got a couple of lodgers in. This way, I was able to survive on a part time delivery job and spend more time on my online work.

Oh, and the product advertised in my sig won't make you a millionaire overnight! Like every other way, it takes time and dedication.

This is a very encouraging thread for me, since I am just starting out in a way (really getting dedicated to IM, as opposed to just dabbling). I am hoping that the fact that I love in a cheap country will help to get me to the full time point sooner (in my case, I only need about $2000/month to replace my salary, but I am aiming for much more)

I went full time after I realized that my unemployment check won't last forever, so for me it was a choice between looking for a job or being self employed.

As much as I hate having a job I chose being self employed.

It took me around two years. I made my first few dollars after 9 months only because I was running after one opportunity to another and later learned you need to have your own product to be successful into IM. So I would advice anyone the same. Don't run from one opportunity. Have your own product to sale.

It's very encouraging to see others who have been able to replace this with their old jobs. That is definitely my goal also. I have been doing a hard physical labor job for 10+ years now and my body is beginning to show its age. Its something i can't do forever even though the pay is fantastic.

The most difficult part for me is finding the time to even do this. Between work and family i have little free time, but I am determined to find a way.
