Any easy way to convert Word->Wordpress Post?

INTERNET MARKETING

I have many Microsoft Word documents (with images) that I would like to turn into posts in my Wordpress blog.

Is there any shortcut/easy way to make this happen in an automated way?

I don't know which version of Word this started with, but when you create a new document, one of the choices is a blog post.

You have to tie it in with your blog by entering your address and account info, but then you can create a blog post directly from Word.

After setting this up, just create a new blog post, paste in your old document, and fire it off.

I have a few of my offline clients set up this way so that they can easily do blog posts.

@Kelly - I've seen this inside of Word (2007) but have never actually tried it. I was always concerned that it would cause issues as Word generates so many different characters that aren't "html compliant" (like curly quotes, etc.).

Have you experienced any issues with this or does it somehow know how to convert the offending characters?

Dave,

You will probably get better results by copying and pasting into Notepad, and then copying and pasting from Notepad into your blog post. This will strip out all the hidden code that Word processor documents contain.

Many word processors include the feature of publishing to html, but the code produced is almost always non-compliant with W3C. This can then cause problems depending on which browser is being used to view the code.

To verify, I just looked at the html tab of a few posts a client posted. The html looks clean.

Microsoft Word>Microsoft WordPad>Blog Post

Wordpad keeps the formating; bold, italics, bullets. This is what I do. I write in Word for spell checking, then paste it in Wordpad, then copy it from Wordpad to Wordpress

  I will give this a try on one of my demo installs and if it works, will start using this more and teaching clients too. If it works correctly, this could be a really big benefit for those who are severely "tech challenged."

  I thought Wordpress allowed you to install on a local machine and write posts and then after you connect to the internet again you can publish the post.
  
  Then you can just bypass using Word in the first place.

  Yes and no.
  
  Yes - you can install it on your local machine.
  
  No - the local installation has nothing to do with your online WP blog. Meaning the post does NOT go from your local install to the online blog.
  
  (after writing it locally you can simply copy it and paste it in your online install; that's all)

  Would you mind sharing that plugin, I too have a need for this requirement, not necessarily to create a word => wordpress conversion but to create HTML and then post to wordpress with format integrity.

I use the blog feature to post directly from Word as well but I find
that I still have to log into Wordpress and clean up some formatting.

I find that the post often spills over the table margins if I don't
strip out the Word formatting. Sometimes I leave it just 'as is'
depending on the blog.

  Cutting from Word and pasting into Windows Live Writer would be better than Wordpad I would think. Live Writer will then let you make all of the necessary formatting changes and automatically push it to Wordpress.
