Do wordpress Blog URLs have to be in Lowercase?- preferred?

I read that for a wordpress blog extension, lowercase should be used for the words in it

eg- Not like this


But like this



is that true? is it preferred for the wordpress blog to be in lowercase letters? (prefered by the search engines perhaps)

  • I'm not sure if there is a SEO correlation or not but if you have improved upon the default permalink structure (aka pretty permalinks) you will see that WordPress will create a url that is all lower case.

    So, whether you create a post named: Pretty Permalinks or pretty permalinks the end result will be the same (assuming you are using the /%postname%/ selection to pull the post title into your url)...

    domain.com/pretty-permalinks
