There is too much to learn. I am bogged down with e books and so called 'guaranteed' pre-built sites. I guess I should say that I am totally overwhelmed! Don't know what to do next.

Decide what you do best or what you like best and focus on that. It won't be overnight, but if you don't give up then you can't fail. Simple as that!

Some of the things I did differently was I avoided the newest trend in online marketing and focused on one thing. Also avoid the WSO section. If you've been at this for 2 years, you already have a solid foundation and know what to do.

WSO's will distract you. I'm not saying that they're not good, they're just distracting and may knock you off course.

Also begin outsourcing tedious projects while you focus on bigger and better things.

    Karen,

Many people have felt exactly what you are feeling right now. Start out by listing what needs to be done, and separating what you can do, and what you can't do.

Then start making plans to earn, learn, and outsource.

    1. Choose your niche.
    2. Choose your model (adsense, affiliate products etc)
    3. Choose your traffic model (articles, seo, PPC etc)
    4. Do Keyword Research (find uncompetitive buying keywords
    5. Write your content (pages, review pages etc)
    6. Do SEO (backlinking, social bookmarking, submit to article directories)

    7.............
Add new content and backlinks everyday and test as you go along. Do this until you reach the income you want.

Work on your 1 site every single day. It may take 6 months - 12 months.

If you feel you need more than 1 site to make more money then scale up and rinse and repeat.

Youve been trying this for 2 years so Im sure you know how to do all the above....now you gotta do it

      Ernie...

I think you've kind of got some doubling and such going on there...

#1... Find your niche using keyword research
#2... Ensure it's something you like or you'll just create yourself another "JOB"
#3... Think of something you can offer this audience (affiliate, ebook, etc)
#4... Give away the what... Sell the how... Tell them WHAT they need to do but sell EXACTLY how you do it....
      #5... Learn copywriting skills
#6... Learn some basic web dev skills or setup a wordpress blog
#7... Learn some SEO & PPC (paid & free traffic strategies)
      #8... Rinse, Lather, Repeat

I agree with this guy and I agree with many of the warriors here.

Just get 1 thing and stick to it.

Internet marketing isn't all that different really, but the products try to make things so so awesome that you have to buy the newest thing that comes out.

      But honestly, it's all about:
      1. Way of getting income
      2. Traffic

      That's it.

I was like you and was lost trying out the latest craze here and there. But I was lucky enough to have tried one model long enough to make 1 site out of it. I was lucky enough for that site to rank in the search engines and I was lucky enough for that site to make me money. Then I was lucky enough for that 1 site to make me more money for me to put in more sites.

Then I just repeated what worked.

So find 1 thing and stick to it!

      I followed Mark Ling's Affiloblueprint.

But I'm sure there are many other products out there that work!

That is not true. You can learn a lot from ebooks and paid courses, but you also have to focus and stick to it. If you apply what you learn in the ebook or course, it can really help. It's all about focus and picking one thing and sticking with it.

After two years of research, don't you think it is time that you pick a method and a niche and start doing something? Once you commit to a plan, you need to stop going to the IM forums, where you can get sidetracked by the next best thing. Do YOUR thing and don't worry about the latest thing.

So I guess you haven't committed to your plan that's why you are still coming to this forum? So if you haven't committed to your plan and you are saying that once you have committed to a plan you need to stop coming to the forums, what are you doing giving advice to someone else about this when you don't even follow it?

I have committed to my plan and still come here to LEARN. You can never stop learning about this business. Sure you need to focus, but telling someone to stop coming to this forum after they have committed to a plan when YOU don't follow that advice yourself is pretty silly.

I agree with every post here, If you have been at this 2 years you don't need to be reading e-books. You need to get started pick your niche and start building your site or blog, landing page.

Maybe not in that order you need to make a plan and follow it, stay focused a good business plan could be as little as 2-3 pages no more. The main thing is to get going you will learn as you go.

I can feel your pain I got caught up in the same situation, put down the books set some goals and take action. Work on your business every day even if it is only for an hour a day, more if you can. You will make far more money marketing than you ever will working by the hour. Anything worth while takes time. Good Luck keep @ it

    Karen,

please, Please, PLEASE don't give up! It's frustrating, I know. I can't speak for you, but as for me, I had my family breathing down my neck about this make money online thing and it sucked! I knew I could do it and I just had to put plugs in my ears or learn how to ignore them.

Then I got discouraged in myself. I was doing a whole lot of stuff with nothing to show for it.

But, you know when the turning point came?

When I did exactly what these guys and gals are telling you to do. You can't get distracted by all the shiny things the 'net has to offer. You have to focus on one thing and see it through to completion. Don't start a project and leave it unfinished.

After 2 years, I'm sure you have more than a couple of so called "money making systems" you can follow. It sounds like the problem is you don't get a system up and running before the next pretty one comes along; you ditch the one you were just working on for the one that is more, how can I say,...sexy?

FOCUS and DETERMINATION is the key.

How bad do you want it?

      This completes everything. Absolutely correct.

Remember, FOCUS is the best thing that could help you go out of the "bogged room" because we Internet Marketers have had so much to learn, so much to apply and so much to outsource.

Definitely, by not trying to apply all at once, finding the "most" effective tips and taking action on it little bit by little bit is way better for you to accept opportunities - easier.

Everyone has offered excellent advice. I should throw in that product selection has a lot to do with whether you will succeed or not. (If you are doing affiliate marketing.) Do your niche research, analyze the traffic potential for your keywords, check out your competition and carefully review the products or services you are consider offering.

Many people have failed at IM even though they have done a great job with everything except product selection. Finding the perfect product for your niche can take some time and effort but it is well worth it.

As others have said here already, choose your battlefield, select the best strategy for your offering, FOCUS on this strategy and execute. It is also important to note that you may need to try quite a few niches or products before you hit on a winner.

Most people think that there are ready made tools that will help them to make money. But there is no such thing, most of them are fake.
If you want to build a site, you have to give personal effort.

First you have to choose your niche.
Then you have to build a website which is rich in keyword.
There are some online based helping tools which will support you.
For increasing traffic to your site you can follow some technique like SEO, backlinking, PPC, submitting in article directories, social bookmarking etc.

    Karenann,

You are not alone...but I guess you know that. I read your post earlier today, actually wrote a reply, but then decided not to post it (I ramble a lot).

I have been struggling just like you. I've been tossing around the idea of getting a coach. I really didn't know where to turn. I was sure all good coaches were going to be out of my price range.

I thought about posting a message in the forum requesting a coach but was a little afraid of how that might turn out, so I decided against it.

So I used the search tool and guess what I found? Check out this post right here => 'Coach Zeus' Presents - Adsense & Affiliate Coaching For Warriors'.

I read it and couldn't believe my luck. This was just what I was looking for, someone to guide me and verify my work. I signed up right away (didn't want to miss the next class).

Now I must confess, an ashamed to say it but, I've never heard of 'Coach Zeus' aka 'John Schwartz'. But he has great feedback and the most "thanks" I've ever seen. I don't even think I've ever read one of his post but he seems to love working one on one with people (according to his sales letter). He even gives you his phone number! How sweet is that?

All for $127? For two full weeks of unlimited access? That's unheard of, right? I mean I've never seen a personal coach (of any caliber) for that price. And that's NOT $127 per hour! That's for the whole two weeks.

I mean is that reasonable or am I just severely out of touch? I just hope I take full advantage of it (his coaching) and actually get something done and stop running around dazed and confused.

After I signed up I thought about you. This might help you too!

I'm giving this a shot because I think I will benefit greatly from having someone to talk to...someone to ask questions...someone who knows what they are doing. Someone that can keep me from wasting more time.

He talks about the importance of niche selection. I think I may have picked the wrong niche (too competitive). I may be in over my head. I'm sure 'Coach Zeus' will be able to advise me on this. The time he will save me if I've made a bad choice is worth the cost of admission all by itself.

I hope you read this post in time as the next class starts May 13th. He has to limit the class size because he offers one-on-one coaching so I hope it's not full when you check. I sound like an affiliate don't I? Is that a good sign (for me)? Think maybe I have copywriting skills? I hope so!

    Techguy

PS: I didn't read the other replies before I posted mine. I see everyone else is telling you to just focus. That's good advice. It helped me when I finally decided on a niche. Then I had to figure out copywriting, then adwords (I need instant gratification), then butterfly marketing, then signing up for affiliate produces, then camtasia, the create my own produce, then landing pages, then amazon S3, then autoresponders, then followup sequences, then relationship video, then sales funnel/path, then split testing, then tracking, now trying to put it all together.

ALL BY MYSELF. I'm a newbie for God Sake! This ain't easy!

I'll splurge for a coach for a minute. If only to check my work. Hopefully it will help and not burst too many of my bubbles. Good Luck whatever you decide.

I just finished up a JV product with John (Zombie Blogging), and throughout the development process, he bailed on a lot of discussions because he had to go talk to one of his students.

Yes, he'll walk away from developing his own product to talk to his students. The man is seriously dedicated to his students' success, and works harder than just about anyone else I know.

I may actually have to hand him $127 the next time we develop something together, just so he'll actually pay attention to me.

Some great suggestions above... I also think it is worth looking at what you have done over these past few years and why you have not succeeded? Is it because of lack of focus e.g. switching between too many things? Is it because of the product or niche that you chose? Is it because of lack of traffic? If you can work out the answer or get help from someone to work out where you have gone wrong, at least this will help to ensure that you don't keep on making the same mistakes.

I can relate really well to what you say. I have been trying to do something for about 15 months, and everything I tried seemed to be complicated ( I don't know a lot about computers). I couldn't seem to follow instructions for making websites, etc, and I always came to a stop.

Eventually I came across the simplest method of affiliate marketing using articles, that I have come across, and for the 1st time, I understood what I was supposed to do. It may be simple, but I am getting somewhere with it. It may not come into the high income bracket, but at least I'm moving forward. I have managed to write a handful of articles so far, which are getting views on a daily basis, but I still have much to learn.

The free method I came across was the DAM (direct article marketing) method by Pot Pie Girl.

Then I had to learn about keywords and incorporating them into my articles, and this too took quite a while to get it together, but with the help of a couple of WSO's, I now have a plan and currently know where I'm heading for the time being.

I wish you well with it.

Let me tell you a story.

When I was about 12, I was in art class, and I was trying to draw the superhero Wolverine. I knew what I wanted to draw, but it just didn't look right. So I kept drawing, and wadding up the paper, and getting a fresh piece.

My teacher - Art Cafaro - came over, picked up several wadded-up pieces of paper, and took me over to the light table at the front of the room.

Switching it on, he unwadded one piece of paper and set it on the light table. Then he unwadded another, and put it on top.

The two pictures were almost identical.

He removed the top picture, unwadded another, and laid it on top. Identical. He replaced it with another. And another. And another. All identical.

And he said "When you keep starting over, you just keep making the same mistakes. If you want not to make mistakes, you have to find the mistakes in what you have already done, and figure out how to fix them."

    I was enlightened.

    Are you?

there is just no guarantee that you will understand the grasp of any good business model

you should start a blog and monetize it with adsense, not to make money but just to learn where the money is made online. you will learn about keywords, conversions, content, tracking. After that you will have a better view on all these e-business models

and in the beginning, you can find most of what you need to educate yourself by taking on free offers. Don't invest on high priced product unless you know that you will start using it today

Sad but I wish I could find a consistent method
for making a real living online.

Fact is, 90% of the warrior forum members
don't even know the answer to that one.

      Marshall
the answer is simple, when some people try to complicate it to crazy limits

you probably acquired some knowledge in the process, but just can't figure out which niche or business model to start with

now, there is just no business without prospects & customers

so start with a basic plan, how can i drive 50 new prospects to my business each day. Then how to convert 20% of these prospects into customers.

if you just answer these 2 questions you are in business. But you need to start to sell something, and just an advice create your own product. It's not that hard and it's the way to start. maybe go to John Reese, money mindset and register for the free session, and start from there.

my first product cost me 140$ to create, and generated 1,500$+ profits

and another big advice, you don't need to have everything perfect before you start. Just create a salespage, post it on ebay and others marketplace, and move from there

      To be honest -

Find a decent niche with highly populated forums

Put an affiliate link or a link to your review site in your forum signature

      Profit

Its not a killer method...but it works.

Find A Niche. (Make it something you like to do)

Break it down (smaller group in that Niche)

Find A problem they have (ask in that niche chat forums)

Fix the Problem (create software or eBook or website they can solve the problem)

Sell the solution ( Memebrship site, one time fee eBook ...)

Not to chase you away but run away from IM chat forums. 99.9 % here are here because they don't know what to do either and they are wasting time.

Just like ebay feed back look at how long people been here I have been here 2003, I think it is safe to say he must know something.

I just seen a gal who has a sig that says make 1k per day. If your not making 1k per day don't try to tell others how to do it. Join date was 2010

That is the real problem with IM - people who "know nothing" trying to tell people who "know nothing" how to do something : that leads back to nothing.

    Hope that helps

ive been at this for a long time! and i was in your shoes not that long ago. here is what i did to overcome it....
    1) shut off my computer and stop checking my email
    2) made a list of everything i knew how to do on my own
    3) refined the list to things that work well together
    4) Began creating a product based upon the list and a business plan
    5) turned on computer logged in to email and unsubbed from all but the two most useful "gurus"
    6)began to implement my plan
    7) never looked back

anyway this worked for me I hope it helps you

    Karen,

I agree with a lot of what is written.

I think the one thing I could add is...stop looking for the magic button. There isn't one.

You need to pick the niche you enjoy, because you will be doing a lot of work in it. If you don't enjoy it, you won't do the work.

Then follow a lot of what has already been wriite.

Develop your list, develop a relationship with your list, sell to your list.

    How? Read the above comments.

There is no magic button...whatever niche you choose, you will have to do the work of writing articles, posting in forums, etc., whatever is involved to succeed.

The "magic button" so-to-speak, is that someone can give you the general overview of what to do. It is NOT a premade button that you hit and everything happens. It is the knowledge of the outline of what to do.

You have to actually do the work.

    Go for it.

    Cheryl

p.s. I had finished this post and then I remembered about something I was writing about earlier on my blog that might help you...the $1 coaching offer...check it out, it might help you get started in the right direction.

I believe the people who build all these blogs
and are frustrated because they are not making any cash
need to concentrate on how to get traffic.
Once you start making sales you cannot simply go on to the next thing
and expect your traffic to always be there.

You have to feed the animals before you leave the farm.
Okay that might be a bad analogy but you get the point.
Just my personal experience, hope it's helpful.

I had the same problem up until the end of last year. The trick is to not get overwhelmed and take action. Have 3 things; focus, hard work, and consistency.

Stick to one method. I believe affiliate marketing is the best way for newbs to start out. The two best ways in my opinion are direct article marketing and building niche blogs much like the Google Sniper Method.

If you have been reading that much then you should empty out your mind and find an easy method like one of these and just work at it for a month or two. I know this is the internet and everything is so fast but succeeding with your online business takes time regardless.

      Just do this...

      1) Get into a market you know and love. It is always best to start out in your passion. If you cannot think of something then pick something you are at least interested in learning about.

      2) Pick a product to promote as an affiliate from clickbank.com. They have too many products but just pick one and learn about it. You do not have to buy it but just learn about it so you can make great content around it and recommend it to other like minded visitors.

      3) Do your keyword research. Use the adwords tool and set it to exact searches per month for accuracy. Type in the first keyword that comes to mind when thinking about the product. If it was a diet program then you can type in diet or weight loss. Go down the list and find a related keyword and make sure it does not have a lot of competition. Plug it into google surrounded by quotes and make sure there are no more than 50,000 competing pages.

      4) Once you found your keyword target it by either typing up one article or creating a niche blog. Type up a good article that is at least 400 words and really helps the readers out. Optimize it well by including the keyword right in front and then add a dash with an interesting headline. Submit it to ezinearticles.com. You can either have your affiliate link directly in the resource box by using s redirect domain or send the visitors to your own site you can create for free on a blog at wordpress.com.

      5) Once it is approved get the word out by building links to it. The best links are from relevant sites that have your keyword as the anchor text.

      6) DO NOT go to another project until this has ranked number one in google. If you set it and forget it before seeing results you will not make any money. But once you have done everything you can and it is getting a consistent flow of targeted traffic you can...

      7) Rinse and repeat.

After getting basic stuff like this down reinvest in your business by getting tools to make the whole process easier. Something like a keyword tool or a back link building tool.

This is how a lot of internet marketers start out. A few key tips to keep in mind is to NOT hard sell the product in your resource box. Recommend it. Make the article good. I suggest not getting into bum marketing because they will just tell you to type up any crappy old article.

Your article need to be quality to pre sell your readers in one shot because that is all you got. Do this whole process once a day if you can and within a month you might actually make a steady flow of commissions.
