I'm starting to get frusterated

I know you guys probably get this a lot, but the truth is, im a little frusterated. I've built two sites. simpleswingreview.com and reviewedhealth.com.

The first one is a crappy first site that I built. Doesn't look good at all, but I did some article marketing and used a link directory submitting service. The results, $50.00. Wooh. I was excited. That was 3 months ago. Since then I haven't had one more sale. My new website is way more professional. It has a lot of the same info, even same articles, but it has more content on it, and looks way better. I have done article marketing ,link directory subimssions, and I'm getting decent traffic at the moment, say 6 people a day. But Ihaven't made one sale.

I read about people who say they slapped a site together- their first one- then they screw around with getting traffic, like just trying stuff out, but really not thinking it will work- but it's the same stuff I do, but I just do more of it. They end up making $500 that month and say hay I made a lot, lets do it again, and they start their career.

I do all the same stuff, and I've made $50.00.

Just recently I added adsense to my crappy site to see if that'll monitize it a little, cause I'm only getting like 2 people there a day.

I have lists on my site, but people just don't want to join my list.

I don't know, I'm just a little upset. I'm not going to quite thats for sure. I know there is money to be made on the net, but I just need to figure out what I am doing. The strategies I'm following ore mostly of those of Christ Rempel and the Lazy Affiliate strategies. I know I need targeted traffic, and I'm trying to target it, but I'm just getting the wrong type.

My bounce rate is definently down from my first site. mY first site bounce rate is like 83%. my new site is about 54%. So I am seeing improvments, but still no commissions.

This is a ramble of frustration, and you guys probably don't want to hear it but I had to tell you guys and get it off my chest. I'm not quiting, but I needed to say it.

Thanks for listening.

I know you're frustrated and hear a lot of great success stories, but remember that those crazy stories of big income are the minority. The average person has to work harder and smarter to start earning the big bucks.

Here's some of my input on your site/s:
    • Your first site may have poorer design, but it's better. It's more focused on the homepage and the opt-in page is more noticeable. The headline also stands out much more.
    • For reviewedhealth, what's the headline to get a person excited about buying anything?
    • I didn't even see the opt-in form until looked for it. No average surfer is looking for a form to give you their information. Make it stand out.
    • The call to action for the opt-in needs a lot of work. What's that free report going to do for the person? Does it sound more interesting if I said "Discover 3 tips to losing 5 pounds this week in our powerful Fat Loss report ($97 Value)! Fill in the form now and lose more fat today." versus "Get your free weight loss ebook and report. A $97 Value!"
    • How about putting some star ratings on the homepage for each product, and puting more focus on the product that you most recommend?
    • Where's the call to action to purchase the products in each review? Something big and noticeable like:

Your 2nd effort is a nice looking site, but it's not optimized to pull in sales or opt-ins. As you can see from some of the suggestions above, there is still a lot that can be improved. I'm sure there's plenty more I missed as well.

But that's good news, because that means there is still plenty of hope and potential!

I had a similar experience when I revamped one of my websites with a hot new design and tons of features. Too bad my income also plummeted. Turns out my original design was amateur and simple, but it was better suited to make money.

You did some good things with your 2nd site. I like the design, nice domain name, and the inclusion of images. It just still needs a lot of refinement and improvements.

Hopefully this helps you out some.

Solomon's posted some good tips (exactly what I would have said ) but you say
I'm getting decent traffic at the moment, say 6 people a day.
I don't agree that 6 uniques a day is good traffic - especially seeing as only one (or none) might click through to the merchant. What you really need to work on is building traffic to those sites, because you can't really talk about conversion or opt in rate etc until you're getting at least 50-100 uniques to each site every day. When you've built up traffic for those two sites go ahead and build more, because unless they do really well it's unlikely you'll make a living from just 2 sites.

How many hops have you had this month? Considering that the average conversion rate of most products is about 1-3% you probably haven't had enough hops.

I'd remove the adsense from the first site as well - with 2 visitors a day it's hardly worth it.

Thanks guys, this is great information. I'll work on changing things around and getting more traffic and see how things turn out.

    Thanks again.
